i have the M/T. its quick, but its not fast. iwan parati kahit ng mga vios. but its still fun to drive. mas gusto ko siya i-drive more than our 3.0 fortuner.
I doubt if you can find an available unit for a test drive especially if you're looking for an AT.
Funny, but for an essentially 18-year old car, this one still sells and seems to be always in "indent order".
I tried to stay in the fence for about two months to wait for an opportunity to test drive an AT after speaking with three dealers. It didn't come.
Shaw offered a test drive in MT, but admitted that the last time they had an AT unit for test drive was about 5 or more years ago.
As to acceleration, it's really a slow car. It drives at its own pace, and somehow, when I drive that car, I seemed to get afflicted with that same sense of non-urgency to get to where I'm going. It doesn't inspire me to weave, cut, and race others, but I'm perfectly contented with it. I also drive a CX9, a Mazda3 2.0, wife's Honda City and Toyota Yaris, but ironically, the Jimny is the most relaxing car to drive, it's almost therapeutic.
So, no , it probably can overtake a few cars, but it's not the most fulfilling or enjoyable way to drive it. If I want adrenaline, I'd bring out the CX9 and perhaps smoke most of the cars and SUVs out there, but I guess, I'm way too old for that now.
Yes that's the part that I hate about dealerships, when u asked initially they will tell you they can provide one. And like u said, 3 dealerships done that to me as well. Zuk Caloocan you can daw pero dun lang sa compound nila. So basically youll just start the engine and move a few meters. Sabi ko sa SA that's cute. Hay, transparency lang sana. Mga paasa parang babae haha
Anyway, I'm not a speed freak either. I just want lang that when i needed to overtake, it has ample grunt sa AT sana lalot I'm from the north region 2 which are Haven for busses and long riggers else susundan mo sila for the longest time.
But based sa inputs nyo, it will not disappoint even in AT.

Hi, new here and first time car buyer as well.
I am looking at Jimny JLX MT as a first car, reason being small, cheap and has 4x4 (which is an added bonus since we live in Davao now).
Anyway, seeing and canvassing through dealers in Mindanao, the prices of the JLX is ranging from 820k-840k from the SRP of 790k in MM. Would it be better yo purchase it in Manila and drive iy back?
Second hand is also an option, but there are like 1-2 that are in Davao, one being this, Suzuki Jimny For Sale Philippines - Find 2nd Hand (Used) Suzuki Jimny On OLX. Is that fair price?
Other option still on my list is the new Mitsu Mirage GLX CVT or GLS MT, as well as the Swift 1.2.
Salamat!
Deu

Buy it in Manila and drive it all the way to Davao. You will end up paying the same amount but you get to see the view, break the car in and enjoy the exhilarating experience of driving a jimny. Now that is priceless! Just bring only 1 passenger. The back seat is a killer unless they are kids.

For gas vehicles the size of the Jimny, it would be cheaper to ship it. If it were a diesel, driving it would be cheaper.
Would the shipping be a big difference yo what the dealers here charge? If that is the case, I'd still probably ship it to CDO, and still drive it back here to Davao.

Thanks for thr reply! I am well aware of the space. I myself is at 5"11' and my fiancé is at 4"11'. We will be the one primarily using it, with her occasional teen nieces. They're riding for free, so no right to complain. Lol
Thats what has been suggested, and could also just tally at 20k for thr whole ttip based on a blog post I've read dated in 2014. O just have to allocate like 3-4 days probably for the whole trip.

Shipping would be about P30K-P 40K plus probably a week/s before it reaches Mindanao.

Then I guess better of getting the best deal in MM and drive it back here, allocating 3 days at least.

it's a very long story but to cut it short, i made a reservation for a khaki green jimny in march she (& her dealership) made me believed that she could deliver it in a week's time but lo & behold, no khaki green jimny in my garage. please see my post in 'bakit ka bad trip today' in early part of april. moral: wag magpapaasa kung hindi mo tiyak na meron!

I see. Seeing that Khaki Green is indeed a special color.
I can't afford that risk as I will be flying over from Davao when its a done deal. And I see to it that the schedule won't have an issue as it will really affect and cascade to my work. :/

VVT na ba ang Jimny engine?
Ano ang FC nyo sa medium to heavy traffic in AT?
