Pero so far, satisfied na ako sa alto ko atleast i get a good value for my money at type ko talaga ang hatchback na car for its cargo versatility.
salamat po sa mga inputs sir, one car that i also checked out is the Getz, well it is a bit more expecnsive than the Picanto but the good thing about it is that it has a 5 year warranty on parts and labor. This shows their confidence about the durability of the car. My first NORKIS Legacy was also an older Alto, but i wrecked it when a truck hit me somewhere along MIA road, that's why it was replaced with a Daihatsu Mira. Considering my limited monthly income, i'm down to a list of two cars, the ALTO and the CHERY QQ3. I'm still weighing my options as of this point. I have a bad habit of trying out new things so i don't really mind being a guinea pig to try the QQ3. But the blue Alto really catches my eye everytime i pass their showroom. hmmm... hahaha...

Hi!

Blank key muna siya, pero medyo madami pang ginawa unlike yung usual na linalagyan agad ng ngipin. Just bring your original siyempre then after gawin i check nyo agad sa lahat ng door ng alto including ignition. Ako nga yung na ang gamit ko at nakatabi na yung 2 original na susi. Baka mapadaan kayo sm sucat try nyo na tawagan in advance para sure ang mr. quickie sm sucat.

regards,
zhu220

Hi guys, I'm new here and I don't know much about cars..
We're thinking of buying a Suzuki Alto because it's quite cheap.. haha.. yeah, well we're on a tight budget so yeah. Actually we could MAYBE afford a Vios or a Getz or a Picanto but I don't wanna take any risks. Anyway, the car will only be for city driving. I didn't post here to compare cars, because I'm already leaning towards the Alto.. I'm just not sure about one thing, though.. I heard that driving the Alto is hard / not that safe when it's raining.. is this true? Because I don't wanna be stuck in some place due to unpredictable weather.. and I want to be able to use my car even when it's raining.
Thanks. =)

Not that safe when raining? You'll have to give a particular reason WHY.

A friend of mine drives a mint green Alto, and I've heard no problems from her the whole year she's had it. She even finds it easy to park.

Oh wow. That's great! Your friend has a mint green one? Hmm.. we went to the dealership, and they said they only had it in silver, white and blue. I don't like any of those colors! Do you think more colors will be available in other dealerships? Oh, and ONE more question.. how does the Suzuki Alto fare when it's already like 2 or 3 years old? Is it correct to say that even after 4 - 5 years of use, it will still run well?
Thanks.. =)

Perhaps the mint green Altos were first-release units...if you can't find them in that shade, that might be the best explanation why. Carmakers sometimes do that...I've complained about Honda and its reluctance to sell deep-blue cars in big numbers

I don't see any reason why the Alto should be "unsafe" in the rain. That it doesn't come with a surfeit of engine power greatly lessens the chance of losing control by simply driving it. Its relatively narrow tires should theoretically even work better in the rain, because it's much easier to shift standing water to the sides with a narrow tire compared to a wide one, all things kept the same.

Reliability for the Alto itself is still a question mark. There are still relatively few Pinoys who've had an Alto for two years (never mind three). Knowing Suzuki though, it should still run fine long after you've traded up to another car in the future.

yes it's unsafe in the rain. but then again all other compacts are. pag may tubig sa kalsada mahirap talaga umikot ang maliliit na gulong lalo na pag mababa pa

that's why a lot of pinoys prefer auvs and suvs today. Philippine roads + rain bad mix!

Too sweeping a generalization IMO.

In deep floodwaters, sure, the Alto and its car brethren won't ford through water as well as high-riding vehicles. But if it's just a question of driving through your standard wet road, there's absolutely nothing to differentiate the two given a sensible driver.

Like Niky and I have said, cars with narrower tread on their tires have the advantage in the wet because they shift water better vs. wide tires. Hence, less risk of aquaplaning (i.e. tires rolling over water, not the asphalt).

And I always wonder why the Japanese has a lot of Kei Cars. With all that twisting roads mountain pass and the winter weather.
Maybe its the reason they have such good economy.

The only unsafe thing about it in the rain is that if you get stuck in a flood, it might carry you away... :hysterical: ... well, seriously, this might happen... we once got in a flood so bad that my Sentra floated out of the garage... alarm screaming... was heartbreaking when the water breached the rubber seals... the car started to sink... "weeooooweeoooweeooowewoweowoe...*****"".

The Alto's thin tires should actually theoretically be less prone to hydroplaning than wider tires on bigger cars. The lack of ABS is a genuine safety concern... but then, you should always slow down in the rain, anyway.

Very easy (and fun!) car to drive... I could park it with my eyes closed. Very basic, though, the interior is 80's cheap, and the steel is a bit soft... but if all you need is a car, it's not bad. Fuel economy is great. Speed is terrible. Reliability... well, at least there's lots of Suzuki parts here... so even if it turns out to be not so reliable, service will be available... anyway... a car this popular should have a robust engine, after nearly twenty years of production. ;)

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

ang engine ba ng alto e nasa ilalim ng upuan? in terms of fuel consumption and over-all ratings mas maganda ba ang cherry dito? medyo affordable ata ang cherry kaysa sa alto..

law of physics

try to hit a drenched pavement with a kiddie-bicycle a bmx and a mountain bike.

sigurado pinakamabilis mag-drive by without much resistance yun mountain bike.

same with alto vs. bigger cars.

even a mid-size suv i-drive mo sa isang mababang lugar sa kalsada with water. may resistance na, yun alto pa kaya
