wow tagal na pala last post dito, been reading through this thread, and last dec. 07 i finally got my vitara. its a 96 jlx matic. so far what i've had fixed are the 4 shocks. Kanina i had the its old super "talong" black tint changed, then my friend who owns the shop remembered he had 1 set OEM vitara floor mats, nung nilabas na waahhhhhhhhhh the driver side mat was missing, the set had 2 passenger side mats, then he looked for the other set, so hopes were up again, when we opened the bag, OEM dash wall insulator/silencers (the one installed behind the dash that goes down to the flooring, to keep heat from the engine coming in)

a vitara second coming,left for dead last year,coz the owner my brodnlaw got a new car.it has as cracked head and block.we just left it at the garage for almost a year when last october we were able to buy a surplus escudo engine in one of the suplus dealer here in cebu.the price 20th,but after a few tawad we got it for 13th. kasama na ang broken camshaft at yung holes nya sa head labasan ng oil ay na buni na rin,pero as to the other parts ok pa, btw japan galing ang engine 1.6 li. 16v sohc same as the orig engine.so as we take the risk,i brought the defective part to a reputable machine shop here and see if what they can do,the guy told me they could fix it for 5th.so to make a long story short after a trial and error engine rebuilding with my one and only mechanic(i`m the assistant) in our backyard so here it is finally resurrecting,we test drive the vitara last dec.12 and until now it runs not exactly 100% but it already has travelled about 600kms.

hi newbie lang po... HOW MUCH po kaya ang price ng vitara ngayon? meron ako nkita 1994 for 175 is it worth it? and mitsubishi 95 gli if im going to swap it with vitara how much will i add..thanks

Ive been looking at Suzuki Escudos online cause i'm considering it on my short list of cars to get. I've seen the official pictures of models that were released in the early 90's and the ones they sell here in the PI. Seems like the models they sell here are the early 90's one but labeled 20XX. Some say those are imports and converted models. Are all the ones sold here in the Philippines converted models? and if i buy one does that mean i am buying a car that's almost 20 years old? Need alot of input to make a decision. what are the pro's and con's of these cars. HELP!!!!

both vitara and jimny are capable off road vehicles.

but the jimny is small compared to the vitara which already tight compared to a gen1 crv

for a starter family car the vitara would be better.

Good day mga sir,

Ask ko lng po saan pwede mg patingin ng aircon. Yung mahusay po sana. Mine is escudo2001 model. Pag hindi tumtakbo (i.e. traffic) humihina yung aircon. Tpos kapag mainit yung panahon wala na talga effect yung aircon eh. Npansin ko lng din, kapag ng power window ako, humhina yung pglbas ng hangin. Help here please. Salamat po!

for the aircon if you're in QC try Aves along speaker perez. or mang mario somewhere near SM north, he has a thread in tsikot.

as for the electrical load that zaps the power, think you need to upgrade the alternator. try wizzards along tomas morato.

Good day to all vitara owners here.

I need some advise because Im planning to buy a 1997 vitara automatic transmission. The problem is the transmission is old and will be needing replacement in a few years, how much will it cost to have it converted to manual and how much if I just have it overhauled or replaced?

Please tell me if there is any shop in the makati, ortigas, or qc area that can overhaul an automatic transmission preferably one that specializes in vitaras.

think it would be better for you the look for another vitara. surplus shops rarely carry parts for vitara's and there very few shops that can properly overhaul an automatic tranny.

converting it to manual would be costly and trouble some. sakit ulo lang yan.

question Jo A. how did you know that the tranny has problems?

Magaganda mga Vitaras mga sir, hindi nakaka-panghinayang. Highly recommended, lalo na mga Suzuki Grand Vitara. Nagkataon lang na parang hindi gaanong tinatangkilik ng Pinoy ang Suzuki, and we don't know what we're missing.

Nakakuha ako dito sa Australia ng 2.7-litre V6 VVT all-time 4-mode 4WD, 2nd hand, for PhP740,000 equivalent. May kasama na itong Diamond Parts and Labour Warranty of up to 225,000 km. Odometer niya nang kinuha ko ay 60,000 km.

Laki ng paghanga ko sa Suzuki magmula ng naka-test drive ako at lalo na ngayon na Grand Vitara gamit ko. Samantala dati hindi ko man napapansin mga ito sa Pinas. Ngunit ng dahil sa mga nakita ko sa Suzuki dito, lalo na sa Grand Vitara at SX4 na 4x4, mas pinili ko si GV kaysa kay Subaru Forester 2.5 XT.

Does anybody know where I can buy a brand new radiator for a 96 Vitara aside from the casa?

Mine has a leak and the radiator shop said its beyond repair and all they sell are surplus radiators. The one in my vitara is also a surplus one from the previous owner. I prefer copper/brass radiators, but i am willing to get a plastic or aluminum one as well if the price is right.

Try mo sir sa Fronte (Banawe), Goodgear (Pasay). Relatives may ari nyan, dealer sila suzuki parts. Kung wala readily available pakiusap mo by order, mabilis naman, nung may pinakiusap ako pyesa for Jimny 4days lang ako naghintay.

mga sir,

i just got a 2nd hand 97 vitara manual transmission.

so far mga 30 kms pa lang tinatakbo ko sa kanya, and here are my observations (please help verify kung ganun ba talaga or may kelangan ako ipa-repair).

- drives and feels like a diesel. malakas humatak at di kelangan masyadong timplahin ang clutch, yun nga lang mabigat ang manibela. minsan parang di gumagana yung power steering, mabigat ikabig tapos gagaan. i don't know kung may problema ang power steering or wheel alignment, kasi pansin ko rin na may konting kabig to the right. di ko rin alam kung ganito lang ba talaga ang steering ng vitara, nasanay kasi ako sa 3 generations ng lancer at more recently, ford fiesta.

- springs and shocks too bouncy. i was stuck in traffic in ortigas last night, kapag madiin yung preno ko, lulubog ng konti yung harap tapos parang magsi-seesaw yung vitara after. medyo nahilo tuloy ako.

- some clanking sound sa likod kapag arangkada-clutch-shift-clutch release. di ko alam kung sa transmission to or some loose cargo sa likod.

i'd appreciate any insight from other vitara owners para ma-compare ko naman ang ride characteristic ng vitara ko with yours.
