So what's the preventive maintenace for conventional A/T without needing a rebuilt?

4000 pesos lang CVTF ko during my 40k PMS for my Civic.

Total 40k PMS cost for my CVT Civic was 14.8k, total 40k PMS cost for my MT Altis was 15.2k. So it's not more expensive maintenance.

We have a CVT ASX with 130k kms, no CVT replacement yet. Civic now has 64k km with no CVT issues even with occasional track use. My Mazda 3 2.0R needed full AT replacement at 105k km. So it's not any less durable.

At 36k km, I had the CVTF and gear oil replaced on my FXT. I paid FusionR 4500 for 6L of CVTF, 2850 for 3L of gear oil, and 1600 for labor.

Like you, I, too, wanna spread positivity, jut sir. Being a tinkerer & 1 who can't just change cars every few years, I opt to remain an outside observer of CVT development. I'm seeing improvement, but with options still available, I'd still prefer to dodge.[emoji4]

Not really being optimistic or pessimistic about it. Just reporting my personal experience with 3 CVT cars from different brands and different ages and comparisons with ownership of conventional AT and MT cars.

a bit of both as they did fill with atf but also cvts are reliant and very particular about the fluid it uses.

So ang design talaga ng CVT eh masisira eventually pag nasa 150k kms mark na? Kahit with proper maintenace? And conventional A/T ba hinde masisira kahit unmaintwined? Honest question.

    Ganito na lang.

Conventional A/T walang maintaince whatsoever vs CVT na proactively maintained.

Mauuna pa rin masisira CVT dahil sa design?

So lahat ng naka CVT now in 5 years tapon na kotse?

Feeling ko sa maintenace yan eh. Akala nila same fluid pa rin ginagamit, lalo na dito sa atin, maraming mechanics na old school pa rin. Kahit mali ipipilit dahil yun na nakasanayan.

Hinde kaya dapat huwag sundin recommendation ng dealer yun palit ng CVT fluid? Like dapat doblehin yun palit sa recommended Interval considering sa traffic situation dito?

Baka case to case lang din talaga but problem is casa doesn't know what conditions you subject the CVT to.

For example yung sa Honda CVTF. Recommended nila is every 2 years or 40k kms. But since sa case namin 10k kms kami roughly per year on the i-Dsi, workable sa schedule namin ang 3 year interval instead of the 2 recommended by Honda... for now...

For Nissan CVT nung Sylphy ko naman, recommended CVTF change was only 40k kms, walang year na sinabi Nissan sa akin. But nung around 30k kms na ako, pansin ko parang iba na behavior nung transmission when shifting after ko subject to long drives or mga up and downhill. After nung mga summer trips ko nun, pag balik sa normal city driving, may pakiramdam na iba pa din. So pinaCVTF change ko na and for the most part, it "feels" the same again after that. But, pag dating dun, still the same. 40k kms ang recommended lang ni Nissan, wala pa din about how many years.

So, sa driving conditions that we (me and my family) subject to "our CVT cars", I think the 3 year interval to a max of 4 year is "workable", observation will need to be done after the 2nd year if it is behaving differently though. So you need someone driving the car who is not the type to just start the vehicle and go but doesn't tell you if there are any "odd behaviors" with the vehicle.

So lack of maintenace pa rin and wrong fluid lumalabas dahilan kaya nagkakaprovlema CVT.

The jatco cvt7 jf015e on my mirage was designed for 150hp. The mirage only has 80 or so hp. I think it will do 150k kms just fine (with proper maintenance).

Typical 10Tk per yr mileage. So in 10 yrs, 100TKm's pa lang. And mostly rated naman siguro yang mga cvt to around 300Tkm.
So bago mo hit ang lifespan, baka kinakalawang na ang body o kaya ginawa ng pampasabog sa pelikula yung sasakyan mo.

At that point, marami ng donor cvt trans kasi marami din manan na total wreck.

    Yup! 1.6L.
1k rpm at idle doesn't help. Lol

CVTs are already at the late majority phase of the innovation adoption cycle. In the grand scheme of things, few buyers fear CVTs and have accepted them as the de facto AT option.
