June 6th, 2005 11:02 AM #2Question lang po.... are second hand tires really dependable? especially with low profile tires? Regarding your question,
In banawe, there is a shop beside Banawe Car-care center which sells slight used 17" tires. They offered me a 90% kumho 215/45/R17 tires for only 3.5k each but I found a lot of 205/40/17 tires there also, not quite sure if they come in pairs. You could also try there. Goodluck!

2nd hand tires are not a problem, just make sure the sidewall is not damaged in any way. thread wear should also be at least 60%. some hole patches are unavoidable basta the most important is the sidewall, dpat walang cracks etc

beware of 2nd hand tires.
inspect carefully if it has a crack (even minute ones) already. most people just check if the sidewall is intact.

2nd hand tyres? Blumentritt at Evangelista ang the best. Like what the guys said, check for sidewall damage and look for cracks, like what mazda suggested. Cracks on the sidewall or dun sa tread eh tell-tale signs of aging. As far as the tread, try if you can check if the tread still has 2-3mm of the original tread depth remaining sa may center. Anything lower than than 2mm, forget it: it ain't safe.
Also, beware: some shops sell re-groove/re-tread tyres as new ones. Baka ma-dale ka.

June 6th, 2005 12:58 PM #8Yung turo ren pala sa akin ng roadstar. Carefully check the manufacturing date even when buying bnew tires. Like the tires I had. They were bought last March 2004 by the original owner but they gave him year 2000 manufactured tires so when 5 year rubber life came it just cracked up. it barely made 14mos.
