rubber and petroleum don't work together, ser. just like condoms, they melt with petroleum jelly or vaseline. the best alternative is silicone lubricant spray, if you are concerned about squeaky noises.

oil is safe on bushings inside the engine ay maraming oil seals na gawa sa rubber same ng bushings, ang mga oil seals na nasa loob ng makina and transmissions ay dinadaanan ng langis, pati mga VALVE SEALS na gawa rin sa rubber, and take note mainit na langis pa ang dumadaan sa mga Oil seals but they take years bago sila ma worn out- so the conclusion is SAFE ang langis sa mga bushings

rubber has many different formulations. nitrile and neoprene are more tolerant to petroleum. rubber for use on tires and suspension components are neither nitrile nor neoprene based. if the suspension bushings were made of polyurethane, you can use all the petroleum oil your little heart desires but it will not hurt the polyurethane as much. your oil seals and valve oil control seals are made of neoprene

there are many kinds of rubber, both natural and synthetic. the rubber seals used in the engine are not the same as the bushings on your suspension. those in the engine are oil resistant, the ones in your suspension are not. as mentioned above by jick, you can use silicone spray. your best bet however is silicone grease, like the lubricant used for O-rings.

you must be using aftermarket suspension bushing that are not rubber. many a times when the engine oil or power steering fluid leaks and makes contact with stabilizer bushings, control arm bushings, stabilizer linkage bushings, they always swell up and melt. this is a common sight when you have petroleum leak. the rubber boots used in the birfield joints and ball joints are not of the same formulation as that of suspension bushings.

whatever but i really don't use petroleum based product on rubber parts on the frame and suspension. besides all the automotive books that i've read all recommend not to use it on them.
