    Bridgestone Turanza GR-80
    Size: 185/65 R14 82H
    Load and speed rating: 82H
Treadwear: n/a on tire but estimated at 280
Traction: n/a on tire, estimated A
Temperature: n/a on tire, estimated A
Price: PhP1,800 (bought in 2003), expect to spend ~PhP2,500 for this now
Comments: Does not run out of grip even as it ages. Low road noise, but it does get noisier as it wears down over time. Tread pattern is directional but not very aggressive. Very good value; after four years it's still roadworthy.

    Michelin Vivacy
    Size: 175/65 R14
    Load and speed rating: 82H
    Treadwear: 240
    Traction: A
    Temperature: A
Price: estimated PhP2750 (these were my Jazz's stock tires)
Comments: Very good grip for an economy tire, but wears down rather quickly. After three years of use, the fronts had very shallow tread remaining. Caveat emptor. It does ride relatively quietly. Tread is non-directional.

    Bridgestone Potenza S-02 Pole Position
    Size: 205/45 ZR16
Load and speed rating: n/a on tire, but definitely higher than H (due to the older non-DIN size rating of "Z"). Estimated at 91V
    Treadwear: 180
    Traction: AA
    Temperature: A
    Price: PhP3,000
Comments: Used for a week and roughly 150 km of city driving so far. The scrubbing-in period of these new tires is not yet complete, so I have no personal opinions on grip just yet (wait for updates). However, these tires are very highly rated by others for their grip. One notable downside is the rather high level of tire patter and noise. Tread is directional and very aggressive.

    UPDATE!

    Bridgestone Potenza S-02 Pole Position

    Size: 205/45 ZR16
Load and speed rating: n/a on tire, but definitely higher than H (due to the older non-DIN size rating of "Z"). Estimated at 91V
    Treadwear: 180
    Traction: AA
    Temperature: A
    Price: PhP3,000
Comments: One notable downside is the rather high level of tire patter and noise. Tread is directional and very aggressive. But ultimate grip is phenomenal! These tires demonstrated very little sidewall squirm under hard cornering and quick lane changes. The tires would grip and grip and grip, holding true to your chosen line for much longer than you'd deem possible. No wonder enthusiasts loved the S-02s and lamented their phase-out.

The biggest downer however is that these tires are old---mine were manufactured at the end of 2001, so they're practically six-and-a-bit years old at this writing even when I bought them new. Rubber deteriorates even when not used.

Watch out for a review of Yokohama S.Drives next; these are my planned replacements for the S-02s.
