January 25th, 2009 09:34 AM #1hi,
i am getting a humming sound when running at "exactly 40kph only." nothing more nothing less. it is also NOT dependent on engine rev and gear.
if its not wheel bearing, what could be it?

January 25th, 2009 06:13 PM #5wheel bearing noise will be audible from any speed, and it will change pitch from low to high. it will be more of a grinding noise.
cupped or feathered tires is caused by wheel alignment problems in general.
Tire service centers with wheel alignment systems can help you on this.
Depending on your vehicle type, when shocks are replaced, it may need to be wheel aligned at the same time.Last edited by tip_tipid; January 25th, 2009 at 06:14 PM. Reason: add comments

April 7th, 2009 11:35 PM #7i have a similar problem po, pero yung sound is parang metal to metal, parang sandpaper na dumadaan sa metal. and yung sound is not continuous, isang portion lang kung baga.sa isang revolution meron part lang na nagssound, yung sa rest wala naman. hindi sya nawawala pag nagbbrake, and nagpalit na din po ako ng brakepads and reface ng rotors, pero ganun pa din, ano kaya yun? wheel bearing po kaya? meron din isang "tok" sound when turning and uneven yung road. kung turning and even yung road, wala naman. tia!
