patingnan mo na lang to be sure, but i think it's the shocks. . .coil springs don't easily soften
tiningnan mo na ba ang suspension mo?. . .pag basa ang paligid ng shocks na parang oil, definitely shocks are busted
btw, nagpalit ka ba ng mags recently? if so and the offset of your new mags causes the wheels to move outwards, your tires maybe touching the outmost part of the wheelwell, especially kapag nalulubak

haha! mukang patay na patay na yung shock. maalon na ba? i mean after ng humps parang nakasakay ka ba sa boat? (sorry cant describe it more accurately)
kung ako, yes since baka bumigay na yung likod after a few months. pero kung tipid mode, harap na lang muna.

May 31st, 2011 09:50 AM #10Springs can weaken also, but based on the age of your car, most probably hindi springs ang prublema.
Shock Absorbers are exactly as they are called... they absorb shock. This means they try to slow down the compression and rebound of a spring. That's why in English (British) they are called dampers. They dampen the motion - downwards and upwards.
Based on your description, your car is already bottoming out. This means hindi na nag dadampen yung dampers mo (a.k.a. shocks). Your car may experience this in the compression state or probably including the rebound state. After going over a hump, para kang nasa alon.
But then again, the valves on dampers are designed for several types of comression and rebound speed. Meron fast at slow. Your dampers may work in the slow mode... by putting weight on the car and pressing it down repeatedly (bouncing) you may find out if the dampers work on slow compressions. Now kung bigla like a pothole, doon mo din malalaman kung yung dampers work on high speed compressions.
While leaking fluid around the shock absorber can be a tell-tale sign of a damaged unit, it's not always a good indicator. If the inner seals or valves become defective, you may not see any leaks outside.
The best test is to get another car to follow you and ask the driver to view each wheel if while running at slow and high speeds to see if there is excessive bounce. Running at 40-60kph a tire bouncing in a wheel well can be seen from the outside but may not be felt inside.
Also, bad shocks - and those that allow the wheel to bounce at medium to high speed driving can cause abnormal wear on your tires which cannot be corrected by balancing or by adding weights. End result ng prolonged use with damaged shocks, mga gulong na oblong or meron mga uneven wear at tambok tambok.
i don't like hybrids so corolla cross is out for me. but i'd consider a non-hybrid corolla cross...
