June 29th, 2009 07:53 PM #1Mga guru,I am total newbie when it comes to car, kaya tanong ko lang po kung anong model ng shock absorber ang pwede para sa Mitsubishi Lancer EL? additional inquiries:
- difference between gas type and fluid?
- repercussion of keeping a busted shock absorber aside from bumpy ride?
- are fluid type suspension can be fixed?
- where to buy budget shock absorber
salamat po mga sir. sna matutunan ko din ung mga importanteng bagay sa pag-maintain ng kotse.

for your first question, go for KYB Gas.
for your succeeding questions:
- for the difference between gas and fluids, go here.... http://www.ruhanirabin.com/type-of-shock-absorbers/
- for the repercussions of keeping a busted shock, it will have an effect on the springs, since the springs now bear the brunt of the weight.
- yes
- shops in banawe, evangelista have lots of shops that carry budget shocks.

i dont know if you are currently using fluid shocks, but if you are, makikita mo na may leaks sa stem ng shocks.
for fluids and gas shocks din: press your car downwards where the shocks are located. if it bounces more than once, your shocks are dead.
the common life of a shock is around 3 years (possibly more). although i've seen shocks fail after a year too, but the average life is around 3 years... but personally, i've had my shocks replaced after four years or so.

sir try mo rin sa evangelista, sinuyod ko lahat ng shops dito kasi taga dito lang ako, and i stumbled sa shop na to "salaguban trading" puros mga surplus na parts ng sasakyan, i had my shocks replaced kanina lang and its smooth now and bago, mga professional mga tao dito and chichikahin ka habang nagpapagawa ka, mura lahat ng parts nila dito, singil nila sa shocks na nakuha ko KYB brand 500/pc + 150 labor, iisa lang price nila for gas or liquid type shocks.
