Rear Drum to Disc Brake Conversion

Sir/s,

Which is wiser, kasi due for replacement na rin rotors ko and pads, change ko na lang from drum to disc? Any recommended brands?

Anong ride mo? Kung for general road use, huwag na. Mahirap mag-tune ng brake system esp. brake balance, etc. magastos pa.

Mas maganda pa upgrade mo na lang front brakes since it does 80% of the stopping.

IC, kala ko kasi same lang din kung change pad/rotors din lang naman..

Minsan pati yung axle mismo magkaiba, eh. Like on my Pajero (rear discs) and my father's Montero (rear drums).

Upgrading to rear discs could be a bit tricky but it does depend on the car you have and the amount of surplus stuff available.

You also have to change the rear hand brake cable and in some cars, even the axles.

If you're into circuit racing, track time, or you really value the improved braking and pedal feel of the 4 wheel discs then maybe it'll be worth the money and effort.

You could use the extra cash to get good front brake pads and then some.

oi mga peeps mdyo kinakalawang yung rotors ko sa front....... ang dami akong nakikita ng sobtang kintab eh ang ganda tingnan tapos yung iba lumaki pa ng konti...... panu yun?:D

Malaki tulong kapag disc brake likod...... pansin ko lang to sa mga ibang sakay namin na pati likod disc barkes po......:D Compare ko yan sa sakay ko kasi drum brakes parin..... kapag biglaan ang preno eh ang likod ndi naman kagad kakagat ata di ba?:D:D

Replacing the front rotor with a larger one is simple enough. Just go to your favorite speedshop and they'll have one in stock. Just make sure it will clear your rims.

Malaking tulong yung rear discs kung proper ang balance niya with the front. Pero as it is, malaking effort at gastos iyon.

Even sa US, some disc brake conversions still end up with longer stopping distances than the stock set-up dahil sa improper set-up.
