power steering problem

Ride: Pajero. Problem: Steering box developed seal leak. For the next two weeks pinatakbo ko na nagtataka kung ano yung umuungol everytime pinipipihit yung manubela. Mas malakas ang tunog pag mas matindi ang pihit. Naisip ko wala lang baka may sumasayad lang na bakal sa steering shaft. I didn't even mind the fact that it made noise even when you're standing still. As long as the steering wheel is turned.

I brought it to Servitek this morning and they discovered the leaking steering box. (Akala ko kasi yung tulo sa ilalim ng sasakyan for the past two weeks is from another car). They topped off the reservoir. Isang bote ng steering fluid and naubos. The noise they said was coming from the steering pump.

After topping up, the noise subsided. But, it's still there, although at a lower volume. Next week I plan to have the steering box disassembled and the seals fixed, para di ako bili ng bili ng power steering fluid. My question is: may tama na ba yung steering pump ko and will it need eventual replacement? Mahal ba ito? Yung lang steering box they told me to get a surplus one instead of repairing. Mga 7 thou daw surplus nakupo!

Hmmm :roll: ... another PS question. Hindi po 7T ang gear box, 11T po :shock:, nagtanong na si Kimpoy sa Kapalangan, Ako sa Blumentritt 12T. My suggestion is for you to replace the oil seals , 2.5T lang ang orig and 700 ang replacement. Clean, replace seals and bleed hen ayos na yan. And take two aspirin in the morning. :wink:

Kapapalit ko lang ng repair kit ng PS gearbox. P2,300 sa coltline. It's OEM. Sa casa P3,395. Result : no more fluid drip, even steering niya unlike before na may "soft spots" when turning the steering wheel and a more lighter feel even during idling.

Na offset naman yun gastos kasi nabili yun 4 pcs. michelins M+S ko for P3.2T.

Ang nahanap ko lang kasi sa ATCO they sell it for 18th Surplus.

ps god...ako my ride is kinda non diesel...corolla matic 98

may leak na noon...i changed the power steering kit sa isang shop sa may amin...orig kit na worth 2500 ata.

less leak. but meron pa rin...but not to a point naman na nauubusan. may tagas lang sa floor. leak on the drivers side lang...malangis yung mga tie rods ball joint etc. sa right side walang oil tagas.

ngayon may sound pag full/sagad pihit ng turn papuntang drivers side.

mali lang kaya kabit nito?

Hi Alfred, tanong ko lang if your cousin can do power steering ng '78 land cruiser? It's aftermarket, di ko lang alam kung ano yung model... ok lang ba if I text him and say dito ko nakuha number niya? And last question.. saan ang shop niya?

paano naman kung maingay naman pag rotate ang power steering ano naman ang problem.

question lang.. feeling ko kasi sira ung PS pump ng pajero ko.. kasi may mga oil sa labas ng housing.. saka baka cold start ng engine, pag rev ko may squeaking sound.. mawawala ung squeak after 1 to 2mins.

nag palit nako ng mga belts pero di padin nawala ung squeak..

Hello sa lahat bago lang ako dito sa tsikot. ride ko is also a paj 87'. question lang about PS...
Mabigat ba ang PS mo pag malaki ang gulong? gamit ko kasi yung pirelli na scorpion AT ang alam ko nasa 31 sya 15" ang mags ko.
Dati kasi may ingay din ang PS ko pero walang leak. pero nung pinatignan ko sa mech. ko sabi nya maluwag lang ung belt ng PS ko. Inadjust nya tapos nawala yung ingay pero medyo mabigat pa din sya. so i assume na ang dahilan ay yung gulong na gamit ko. o di kaya baka naman gearbox na din kaya problem ko.
Baka naman may info kayo para sa akin. ty hotqcmale2000.
