April 4th, 2010 09:07 AM #1hi,
car is mitsubishi lancer glx 2000.
i replaced my rack ends and tie rod ends and i noticed that the inside of the boot on the "gear rack side" is wet - only the inside take note. the rack gear itself is coated with grease.
problem here is that i can't tell whether the "wetness" is the atf or just grease. as for the color, the grease is red and the atf is red as well.
i am not loosing fluid in any way as i frequently check the reservoir. problem is do i have to get a repair kit na and do the rebuild? i might only be experiencing very minimal leak that does get out of the boot and doesn't need top up

Observe mo muna bro, mahal kasi ang pag rebuild ng power steering system (pulley, etc). Ksi kung di naman ngbabawas, okay lang naman. Have your car engine washed and observe where the leak is coming from. May I ask baka na overfill mo dati?

Since you got this 2nd hand, its a good idea to change the drive belt (its cheap anyway). Also...
