ano pinag iba ng 4 ply at 6 ply na gulong?
papalitan na kasi yung gulong ng crv, so 4 ply or 6ply ang ilalagay ko?

    2002 crv pala. 10-seater version...

matalbog yung ride ngayon...sana pwedeng maging mas malambot.

    thanx!

"ply" is the web/fabric (usually steel/rayon or nylon) that makes up the strengthening material of the tyre. if you cut the tyre in cross section you will see this as like threads/cord that holds the rubber from expanding as what a baloon would. that is why when a tyre has a bulge or "bukol" they will tell you that the ply is cut or broken.

4-ply means there are 4 layers of material, 6-ply means 6 layers, and so on. the more the number of ply the stronger is the tyre. thus a tyre with a higher number of ply will have a higher loading capacity and higher power handling capacity. a tyre with higher numbers of ply will also resist the tendency to "bukol" more than one with lesser number of ply.

the other term is "belt". that is why you have steel belted and nylon belted tyres. di lang kasi nakasanayan na tawagin na 4-belt tyre, so that's why it's called 4-ply, etc.

"ply" is always by laid in pairs, and so ply numbers are always divisible by 2 -- 4 ply, 6 ply, 8 ply, 10 ply, 12 ply, etc. that is because the fabric or web is laid out diagonally and perpendicular to its pair during manufacture, giving the tyre a uniform 360 degree strength throughout its face.

so will 4 ply tires make my ride softer?

what would be better? 4 ply or 6 ply?

so 4 ply lng pede na kc usually isang tao lng.

e kung malayuang biyahe naman? ok lng ba na 4 ply?

mas malambot ba ang 4 ply na gulong kesa sa 6 ply?

    thanx!

sa passenger cars hindi consideration kung yung number of plies... pang utility lang kung naghahanap ka ng 4 or 6 ply (like aviation tires... ATV tires... etc).

almost all passenger cars use radial ply construction...

    eto ang answer...

The most important feature of tire design is the arrangement of the cord, or ply. The three main types are bias ply, radial-ply belted, and bias-ply belted. In a bias-ply tire the cords in a single ply run diagonally from the beads on one inner rim to the beads on the other. However, the orientation of the cords is reversed from ply to ply so that the cords crisscross each other. In a radial-ply (also called radial-ply belted) tire the cords in every ply run perpendicularly from the beads on one inner rim to the beads on the other, and there is a rigid belt, usually of fine steel wire, between the tread and the plies. This construction provides longer tread wear but a rougher ride. In a bias-ply belted tire the cords in the plies are aligned as in a bias-ply tire, but a rigid belt, usually of synthetic fabric, is added. This tire has longer tread life than a bias-ply tire and provides a more comfortable ride than does a radial-ply tire.
in short... bias-ply is the most comfortable ply construction.

so, anong gulong ang merong bias-ply construction?

    bridgestone? 205/70/15 tire size...
    dunlop?
    yokohama?

halos wala nang nagbebenta ng bias-ply tires... for one... malakas ang rolling resistance nun (bad for your gas mileage)... then madaling mapudpud... then compared to radials, inferior ang handling nun.

isn't the Duelers (which is the OEM tire of the CR-V) already one of the most comfortable tires for light trucks / SUV? hirap kasi dito sa pinas... hindi available ang mga premium model ng Duelers (base model lang kasi ang available dito).

tires can only do so much. there might be a slight difference but don't expect a miracle. AFAIK, the suspension setup of the 10-seater CR-V is different from the 5-seater & 8-seater right?

OT. are you sure that your Peso 700 brakepad is really for the CR-V? the Peso 4000 price of the CR-V's brakepad is just right.

yeah, the 10 seater's suspension is stiffer. hence the bouncier ride.

the 4000 peso brake pads are not for the crv, but rather for the 2000 accord of mine. its true! they tried to charge 4000 pesos for OEM brake pads. while i only changed them to bendix, saved me 3300 pesos!

kung ang choices mo e between 4-ply and 6-ply tyre lang, sagot dyan e very minimal ang difference sa ride quality since almost the same thickness yan. generally a tyre with more ply will have thicker side walls. so kung between 4-ply and say 8 ply, yan may difference ka na maramdaman dyan in terms of ride. but between 4 and 6, wala.

so in answer to your question, try putting less inflation pressure. kung dati 30 psi e di gawin mong 28 psi lang. sa ride ko pag ako lang magisa or short drives lang naman 30 psi siya since i don't mind matagtag na ride, pero pag long drive and may sakay na baby sa likod 28 psi lang pressure ng gulong ko.
