ano pinag iba ng 4 ply at 6 ply na gulong?
papalitan na kasi yung gulong ng crv, so 4 ply or 6ply ang ilalagay ko?

    2002 crv pala. 10-seater version...

matalbog yung ride ngayon...sana pwedeng maging mas malambot.

    thanx!

"ply" is the web/fabric (usually steel/rayon or nylon) that makes up the strengthening material of the tyre. if you cut the tyre in cross section you will see this as like threads/cord that holds the rubber from expanding as what a baloon would. that is why when a tyre has a bulge or "bukol" they will tell you that the ply is cut or broken.

4-ply means there are 4 layers of material, 6-ply means 6 layers, and so on. the more the number of ply the stronger is the tyre. thus a tyre with a higher number of ply will have a higher loading capacity and higher power handling capacity. a tyre with higher numbers of ply will also resist the tendency to "bukol" more than one with lesser number of ply.

the other term is "belt". that is why you have steel belted and nylon belted tyres. di lang kasi nakasanayan na tawagin na 4-belt tyre, so that's why it's called 4-ply, etc.

"ply" is always by laid in pairs, and so ply numbers are always divisible by 2 -- 4 ply, 6 ply, 8 ply, 10 ply, 12 ply, etc. that is because the fabric or web is laid out diagonally and perpendicular to its pair during manufacture, giving the tyre a uniform 360 degree strength throughout its face.

sa passenger cars hindi consideration kung yung number of plies... pang utility lang kung naghahanap ka ng 4 or 6 ply (like aviation tires... ATV tires... etc).

almost all passenger cars use radial ply construction...

so will 4 ply tires make my ride softer?

what would be better? 4 ply or 6 ply?
