    the oil seals were replaced years ago and fortunately not leaking oil as of now.

    however, the system is leaking fluid at the the part where the gearbox and the valve body is joined (as shown in the pic).




    do you have any quick fix ideas in mind?

    I am thinking of tightening the bolts.

    Tearing down the whole assembly seems laborious and expensive.

    could be the steering shaft oil seal is damaged. tightening the bolts as you suggets will not solve the leak. try to check the hose clamps and tubings
    are properly tightened and are not the ones leaking.
    for the steering shaft oil seal, the complete rack and pinion assembly has to be brought down for servicing.

    IF you can get the seals that's the cheaper way to go. I'd replace the rack and pinion be done with it (lifetime warranty on replacement racks generally). Again, seals are way cheaper.

    I don't think the oil seals are the problem. And the service manual confirmed this. For leaks in the mating surfaces, the solution is to tighten the bolts. I am actually relieved to read that but I am yet to do it.

    di kaya yung mounting ng rack sa sasakyan ang bumigay kaya medyo hindi naging aligned yung mating surfaces?

    hmmmmm.....pwede....pwede

    try ko inspect bago ko higpitan yung bolts. baka kasi kelangan ko din luwagan muna yung mounting screws para ndi ako mahirapan sa paghigpit ng screws.
