    Good day tsikot!

Sa kadahilanang intermittent yung problema sa steering, eh medyo mahirap idiagnose. itatanong ko na lang muna sa inyo kung sino man nakaexperience neto at ano ang naging solusyon ninyo.

    Info:
    1. Pitman arm style steering gear (recirculating ball)
    2. SLA front suspension
    3. Front suspension (ball joints, bushings, etc.) and steering rod components (except pitman arm and idler arm) replaced about 2 years ago
    4. P/S v-belt tension ok
    5. Fluid condition and level ok.

Problem occured, iirc, even when engine is hot when parking or maneouvering on tight spaces. konting research sa ibang forum eh sabi: kadalasan kung hindi fluid condition/level ay yung mismong power steering pump.

suspect ko yung relief valve/flow control valve which is, afaik, not rebuildable. kelangan replace the whole pump.

    salamat

may pressure switch ang system? baka sira na bushing ng pitman arm

walang pressure switch. maari din pitman arm. inalog ko kanina steering rods, yung idler arm umaalog na pero hindi pa nagpaparamdam kapag tumatakbo.

There are three types of steering systems that use recirculating ball nut steering gear: parallelogram, cross steer and haltenberger linkage. Identify your car first

pasensya na braders irevive ko lang thread ko.

hindi ko pa rin naaayos ang problema hanggang sa ngayon dahil one in a million kumbaga ang pagpaparamdam ng problema.

btw, its a parallelogram linkage. 4 tie rods, 1 relay rod, 1 idler arm and 1 pitman arm.

actually the problem is hard steering to the right only.

    eliminating the possibilities condition exists

1-when the engine is at working temperature,

    2-only in tight turn,

    3-only in the right turn.

the pump is out of the question since the left turn is normal as per the description.
the suspension/steering components/pivot points have been replaced

    the possible causes

1-the tie rods were installed wrong (binding due to installation at the extreme opposite end of its expected range of motion)

2-the directional control valve in the steering worm (recirculating ball nut system) has either foreign object debris

3-hopefully not, the torsion shaft of the directional control valve has snapped

one time na nangyari uli, pagka-off ng engine at sinubukan ko steer to the right e andun pa rin yung hard steering. hindi lahat ng turns ng steering wheel e matigas. may portion lang na titigas ang manibela.

most of the time na nagparamdam yung problem is when backing up on my garage tapos uneven yung ground. mas mababa yung garahe ko kesa sa daan. kung hindi e during maneouvering on tight spaces like parking.

kung tie rod problem ito e dapat nung pagkapalit ko e agad naramdaman na kaso hinde. pero maaaring mali pa rin ako.

my suspect is on the steering gear. items #2. mukhang mas madugo pa yung item #3. wag naman sana.

ngapala, as far as i can remember e hindi ko pa napapalitan pitman arm. dahil wala akong pangbaklas nung malaking nut holding the arm. kahit adjustable wrench ko hindi pasok.

with an assistant, do a "dry park test".

this is done with the front tires are off the ground or unloaded and supported by jack stands.
the assistant turns slightly left-to-right-to-left-to-right and so on while
you under the car grasping suspected components for abnormal vibration, harhsness or binding.
also, check for signs of rusting of flex points.

if the replaced components were installed and torqued while the front tires are turned, there is a possibility that there is binding on the flex points
