Help... Brake Issue for my Honda Civic '96

Help mga gurus...

Kapag nag-brake ako meron sound sa harap na gulong, driver side, parang kumakamot na sound, maririnig mo lang talaga siya kapag umapak ako sa brake... pinapalitan ko na brake pads at pina-reface, nawala siya for a while, then bumalik ulit, binaklas siya ulit, pati caliper, may konting tagas kaya nagpalit ng kit (mga goma), nawala ulit, pero after a while balik na naman tunog niya...

ano sa tingin nyo mga bro?

+1 on the brake pads, check the brake pads you installed, if it's too hard the sound will be there.

mga bro, before OEM yung pads nung unang lumabas yung tunog, then nag-palit, after a while ganun na naman, then nag-palit ulit, after a while na naman, balik na naman problema.

one common mistake of "mechanics" after a brake rotor/drum resurface: wash the newly resurfaced disc/drum with warm soapy water and dried before installation. the anatomy of their mess up, the cast iron dust on the disc/drum after machining gets stuck to the brake disc causing noise upon brake application. similar to cylinder bore honing or machining, it is required to wash the "new" surface with warm soapy water to remove abrasive dust from the surface

since you already had the discs resurfaced and the pads replaced, more than likely all you need is to (wet) sand your pads with 240 grit sand paper. the cast iron dust from machining has already sintered or glazed on the surface of the new disc pads. also check for backing plate or splash shield for contact with the disc

bro, lumabas yung problema nung tunog dati pa, hindi pako nagpapa-reface & palit ng pads, nagpalit at nagpa-reface lang ako as per advise nung mekaniko, pero after a while bumalik din yung problema...

if reface ang problema, tutunog lang yun after ko magpa-reface at magpalit ng pads, plus dapat pati yung kabilang brake tutunog din, kaso yung driver side lang ang may tunog which is yun ang may problema before pa.

if reface ang problema, tutunog lang yun after ko magpa-reface at magpalit ng pads, plus dapat pati yung kabilang brake tutunog din, kaso yung driver side lang ang may tunog which is yun ang may problema before pa.

it will be difficult to search the origin of the noise you described when the vehicle is on the ground and in motion. try raising and supporting the front engine cradle, apply parking brakes and chock your rear tires. then run the front tires in gear while listening with a stethoscope. also, if you could describe the noise better with a comparable common noise, e.g.: scraping at high pitch, growling, moaning, grinding or intermittent chirping.

if its moaning then let it be :D seriously now, apply silicon brake paste on one side of the brake pads between the thin plate and the pad, not the one in contact with the rotor.

i apologize for the jargon. i used to work for general motors and they have used "moan" and "groan" interchangeably for a particular noise in the brakes. this happens when the transmission is in drive and the brakes are applied lightly allowing the brake discs to slip. similar falls true with manual transmission cars when the brakes are allowed to slip when the car is downhill.
