hi
im planning to change the spare tire of my car... size is 265/70 R16.
medyo wala na ako budget for good brands like bridgestone because nagpalit lang ako ng set of 4. medyo mabigat sa bulsa yung dueler a/t ng bridgestone.
i was offered these choices
1. westlake 4k plus china made
2. gt 5k
ok kaya yung westlake?
thanks

May 12th, 2010 05:33 PM #2q: what happened to the last set of tires, before the purchase?
Yung usual route nyo po ba is city or highway? i'm no expert, pero people usually retain one (the one in best condition among the 4) as spare. For city driving ok lang siguro, unless there is very obvious wear and tear(e.g. exposed steel belts, cracks along the sidewall).
Nung nabutasan ako ng gulong a while back, i just had it repaired at a vulcanizing shop and kept it as my spare.

Nagamit na ba ? Or sira na ba yung spare tire ? Kung hindi pa, okay lang yan. You wont use the spare often, for emergency cases lang naman.
I`ve changed my 4 tires twice already. But the spare tire hasn't been changed yet.

the problem is, maybe TS's spare tire is old and expired. so it is not that safe to use it kahit for emergency use lang. tama desisyon ni TS na palitan na din.
*TS if you could search in blumentrit for 2nd hand but newer tires (bago bago pa lang manufacturing date) mas makaka menus ka.
anyways, kung brand new, matagal mu naman gagamitin, di nga lang sulit imho kase spare tire lang.
BTT: westlake tires are average tires, not so good, not so bad. i have the 215/45r17 on my car. but i believe you are searching for A/t tires which are for SUV's or the like. di ko lang alam about sa A/t tires nila.
GT is common and widely used. so malamang marame ang may tiwala sa brand na to.
why not try federal if they have A/t tires? cheap too but better than westlake.Last edited by aejhayl17; May 13th, 2010 at 06:22 PM.

oo sir... medyo luma na rin yung spare kaya kailangan na rin palitan... im not really looking for an a/t tire for my spare... importante eh same size.
anyway, thanks for the inputs... i'll take your advice and inquire about federal if they have the size im looking for... if not, i'll try westlake. sayang din 1k difference from GT... pang gasolina din.hehe thanks

yung mga china tires, under size. ok lang naman pang spare, yun nga lang, hindi papantay kung maflatan. hehe
ok naman westlake, nankang, or maxxis.
federal are better tires than china made tires IMO. ang prob ko lang sa china tires, madulas talaga. you really have to step on the breaks to stop it.

Just buy a cheap 2nd hand tire from Blumentritt. ;)
Just make sure that the tire itself has enough thread to bring you to the vulcanizing shop.

for emergency purposes hindi ba ok ang donut tires na in excellent condition? iyon nga lang hindi naman siya talaga designed for long drives kaya kailangan sa soon as there's a chance either pa-vulacanize or palit kagad when the owner gets a chance
dami kasi benta niyan ngayon at an affordable price
