Forgot to release the handbrake!!!

Guys, I forgot to release the handbrake, and I drove about 1km when I noticed a burning smell. Kelangan ko bang ipa-check. Tapos, nascratch pa ako ng konti sa parking. Bad trip.

Kakabili ko lang ng kotse, Ford Focus 1.8L trend hatch. I just have questions?

1) Kelan ko bang ipacheck yugn handbrake? If ever, magkano kaya bayad? Or covered ng warranty?

2) Magkano magpaayos ng konting scratch? Ano pedeng gawin. Basta nagpeel ng maliit yung paint, so I am assuming kelangan i-repaint.

Mabili lang ba ayusin ito?

Hehe same thing happened when I bought my Fortuner last year sa subrang excitement I drove it for about 5 kms before I noticed the handbreak was still engaging. Fortunately until now the breaking is still ok but I will have it checked by casa on next visit for PMS.

Kung hindi naman nag stuck up, at sufficient pa din ang stopping power ng handbrake mo, hindi na kailangan pa check. pero libre naman sa PMS ang pagcheck ng brake so, antayin mo na lang PMS sched mo. Kung nasira man ito, definitely hindi covered ng warranty yan.

kung hindi naman lumabas ang primer wetsand and buffing lang around 300-500 pesos siguro. Pero kung lata na or primer na ang nakikita mo, touch up paint or re-spray na ang gagawin 1000 and up na siguro yan

You will just burn the brakes a little bit.... just wear them some.... not that bad.... try not to do it all the time or you will warp the drums and wear out the shoes.

i think it is best to have it checked... anything that has been burned out means that metal parts and the brake pads have been stressed that may lead to premature wear... Warranty covered? IMO-- no. i hope that helps po.

Nope, di umusok but I smelled the burning rubber hehe thats when I notice the handbreak is still up & engaged.

Ganito na lang gawin mo, salatin mo ng kuko mo ung gasgas. Kung sumabit na ang kuko mo, ibig sabihin masydo na malalim iyun at hindi na kaya ng wetsanding and buffing. Ngaun, depende sa haba at sa laki ng gasgas kung touch-up paint pa o respray na ang gagawin.

Warranty is out of the question. gasgas yan e. I doubt naman kung sulit na i claim mo sa insurance. Mas malaki pa participation mo kesa sa gagastusin mo e.

kung ayaw mo sa CASA, go to reputable paint shops. Kaya namang i color match yan kasi relatively new pa at stock color naman yata ang car mo.

Ung amoy sunog na rubber naman, pwedeng nanggaling sa brake pad mo o sa gulong mo mismo kung medyo mahigpit ang pagkakaengage ng handbrake mo. Next time maging observant ka sa takbo ng kotse mo kasi based sa description mo, e i am sure pigil na pigil ang takbo ng car mo pero di mo namalayan. HTH

3,000 for a few scratches. Titimplahin daw yung kulay since medyo bago yung kulay, di pa nila nagawa before. Tama ba itong quote na ito?

depende sa area sir. pero usual per panel is 2000-2500 lang. medyo mataas po yang quote sa iyo

Most cars may warning lights lang sa panel pag naka engage ang hand brake, meron bang car na may audible alarm?

I believe long years of driving experience it will become a natural instinct to driver to hold and release the hand brake once gear is engage and ready to move.

it happened to me twice! long ago... i traveled 7km going to school before i noticed it. fortunately the brake pad is still not that this to be replaced but due to the large amount of brake dust in the brakes, i kept on slipping... the guys at the gas station opened the drum, cleaned and blew compressed air into it then everything went back to normal.
