i do. every 40k kms.
if you really dont replace it, contaminants are put into the braking and steering system which may damage components.
yes, especially your brake fluid. sludge will tend to build up (just look at the brake fluid reservoir under the hood). this will cause your brake lines to clog up, which will decrease your braking efficiency.
Ideally, but sometimes I'm too lazy to get around to doing it. I'll usually just have it done when another item being serviced.
Brake fluid is hydroscopic/hygroscopic. It will attract water as previously mentioned. Also the reason why you should buy spare brake fluid in small sealed containers and not in bulk.

ahehe, ganun pala... hmmm 2 years na din yung car, i guess i'll have my trusted mechanic drain it. ano pala recommended nyo p/s fluid? sa brake fluid prestone na po ba pinakamaganda?
PS fluid depends on your car. Most vehicles will accept ATF. I use DexIII on most applications (Castrol 'Protector' series ATF). I also have Shell ATF here (Allison rating).
For brake fluid, Motul is said to be good. But for a daily driver, anything DOT3 or 4 is good enough.
