Does your ride have ABS? If yes normal yan kasi ganun naman talaga dapat hindi basta nag lock ang brakes para makapag steer ka pa ng maayos...

Ang i double check mo na lang is the distance bago ka mag full stop with different speeds para malaman specific distances (I suggest you do this in a track and not on a public road though)

Lastly, it doesn't hurt to have your braking system checked kasi ibang usapan yan kapag yung abrupt braking mo ay galing sa mabagal na takbo

Even the most expensive car hindi humihinto kaagad pag nagbbreak. On the otherhand kung inaabot pa ng more than 10 meters at hindi pa din totally break yun auto, baka ubos na mga pads nyan. Have it checked to avoid accident.

What model, make, and year of your car? When was the last time you serviced your brake system? Do you need to pump your brake during braking? As mentioned above, though the braking distance is not that long, it is normal with cars with ABS.

when the brakes are applied to stop the car, it does not respond to zero velocity immediately since there is momentum. the moving vehicle kinetic mechanical energy is converted to heat energy by the brakes. it takes time for the brakes to convert this motion to heat, consequently, the hot brakes components do not immediately quench to ambient temperature. imagine stopping like the way you meant it, like hitting a brick wall from X mph to decelerate immediately to zero mph, you will sustain a lot of injury and sustain damage to your car. it is a matter of inertia and momentum we learned from high school
