OK my car is a Honda civic 2011 fd. so I went to casa honda to check my car and they said that I need to replace my tie rod and rack end as it's loose.
So I went to a local suspension specialist who repaired my old rack end, ball joint and Tie rod and gave me a 1 year warranty. For both sides, they charged me 6000 peso all in for this repair job with 1 year warranty.

Later someone messaged me on Facebook that the repair of tie rod and rack end Wil cost me just 800 peso......

Guys is his true? Was I overly charged?

Did they gave to you the itemized cost for the repair?

Perhaps, you check the items and canvass the price to your local shops for comparison...

also maybe around 1-2k went to 1 year warranty they are offering but ofcourse it wont damage the tie rod and rack end in 1 year unless you’ll do it on purpose...

I usually go for 2-3 shops to compare but if i have already suki shop that i can trust ill go with them and ill buy the items and let them do the labor given that i have free time... but if i dont have, i let them source out the items in their own suki store with add-on, 20-30% i think which is reasonable given that you will just comeback to the shop and take your car after repair... saves your time and energy... also you can request for the info like brands, mostly 555 i think....

Just repair and didn't replaced the parts? I would say it's expensive.

Replacement suspension parts have become so cheap that having the old parts refurbished no longer makes any sense.

For modern cars, tie rod and rack end - pinapalitan yung parts... last time I saw a "repairable" tie rod was on a 70's car... Nung 80's pwede pa sya lagyan ng grease... pero 90's and later, palit na agad...

so at 6,000 - sila na ba bahala sa parts? and alignment after?

At 800, baka labor lang yun tapos ikaw na bahala sa parts and alignment...

You mean they only pressed the parts? Baka replacement kase 6k gastos then may 1 year warranty. Tana Sabi nila, ask for a breakdown. Or silipin mo if bago yung parts.

most probably they just pressed it para sumikip, tapos pag lumuwag pressed lang ulet. with that price bili ka na lang replacement part mas ok pa kahit taiwan lang.

    tama sila dapat canvass muna

i am assuming, they replaced left and right ball joints, left and right tie rod ends, and left and right rack ends.
    that's six parts.
i haven't done suspension in a while. how do these things cost now? 555? oem? japan? taiwan?

so, TS, how does your car's front end suspension feel now?

    tie rod - 1000

labor nasa almost 800 (for left and right), kasi siningit lang yan sa lower arm suspension bushing replacement.

meron kaming kotse, mits lancer 92. hanggang ngayon tumatakbo pa. kadalasan sa amin ay replaced lang yung mga lumang ball joint, tie rod. luckily, meron kaming magaling na kakilalang mekaniko for 15 years na at siya nagpapalit. Kaya okey parin kotse. Maghanap ng mekanikong magaling, honest. Sa amin, after a series of four talyers nuon, usually you can pick the best among the group.

Thanks for everyone's reply. Well I was getting no issues at all. But casa told me about the problem but my car showed no issues at all so I didn't fix it. when I took it for installing new tires, they lift the car up and moved the rack end and it was loose and making noise.
So then I decided to fix it and I took it to a near suspension shop and they said they will repair tie rod, ball joint, rack end and warranty for 1 year for 6000 peso.
While doing this job, he pulled the black boot frm the rack end and there was alot of oil inside it. They said the power steering oil seal is leaked and needs to be replaced as well.

I tried to shake the rackend after it was fixed and it doesn't make the weird loose noise. However there is 0% difference before and after. No noise, no vibrations etc nothing
