Buzzing Power Steering

Just noticed... that the power steering mechanism buzzes / vibrates / hums during the first few minutes of driving the vehicle - whenever the steering wheel is turned.

It is especially audible when taking a corner slowly.

But the said symptom disappears after driving down the highway.

What gives?

Happened to me as well. Pag medyo matagal na i-drive medyo nawawala na. Had the P/S pump overhauled. It's been 2 weeks since, so far ok pa naman. Kung bumalik ulit, I'm thinking baka ung mga hose na may problema.

to note... pina check ko lang sa speedyfix... may leak yung power steering ko... nakaka pagtaka lang eh hindi bumabawas sa reservoir ng power steering fluid...

naku sakit sa ulo ang PS leak, ok lang kung hoses pero pag yung mga parts located inside sakit sa ulo

I used to have the same problem in my previous car when the power steering fluid was leaking out. The steering would "hummm" a bit loud whenever the PS fluid was low.

I have the same problem with mine, how much did it cost you to fix it?

I had to replace the entire hose... costs a few thouasnd pesos... forgot the exact amount.

hmmm... hindi naayos sa speedyfix yung problem... puntahan ko pa later kung ano ang diagnosis nung mga mekaniko.

saan kayo nagpa overhaul ba ng PS pump?

yoko kasi sa casa... for sure ang recommendation agad niyan eh replacement ng bagong pump! sakit sa bulsa!

Ung sakin kase sa casa ko pina-overhaul. Cost me around 1.9K. Actually, a few days after ng overhaul, medyo bumalik ung humming sound so binalik ko sa kanila. Nilagyan lang nila ng grease ung steering column ata and it's been 1 week since, ok pa sya.

humming pala, check fluid level or flush it and replace with a fresh fluid. you won't be able to remove all the old fluid without taking apart the gear box. HTH.

Kung namamawis [pawis only] and you can live with the buzz/humming, you can let it be na lang muna. Just watch your fluid level.

Sir to think din na mayroon din leak sa power steering ko. located sa power steering part circular which the belt is connected.. may drip or kunting tulo at sabi ng mechanic busted gasket or bearing? and same tau sir mazdamazda wlang nag iba sa reservior ko. bakit kaya ganito? wla din sound or something but I know something to be replace asap. I think ibang case to sakin yung leak

medyo naubusan na pala ng fluid yung power steering... nilagyan lang ng service advisor. from the outside, akala ko lang may fluid pa... pero nung binuksan eh wala na yung reservoir... stain lang pala nung fluid ang nakikita ko. lech!

eto ang estimate nila for a whole new set:

power steering assembly - P27K
rack & pinion set - P58K
labor - P2K

parang gusto kong himatayin nung narinig ko ang mga presyo. hehe.

based dun sa place ng leak... malamang daw may tama na rin yung rack & pinion.

so now, tsaga muna ako mag refill na lang ng power steering fluid. medyo malakas na rin ng konti ang tagas... mga siguro 1 teaspoon kapag overnight kong iniwan.

pwede rin kasi daw na gawin muna yung power steering using a repair kit. then kay cruven ko na lang ipagawa yung rack and pinion. though duda rin ako kung may tama yung power steering.

our sentra has the same problem too. sabi sa casa, it was replaced by the previous owner, but the diameter of the hose was smaller.

Pano naman nilang nalamang may 'tama' na ang rack and pinion. I drove home one of our vehicles with no PS fluid. Pinalitan ko lang yung hose, hanggang ngayon ok pa. Years ago pa yun.

Trace mo lang exactly where the leak is from and repair that area. No use going through the fuss of replacing the whole system unless you like burning money.

Ganyan talaga kasa, akin din pinapapalitan nila buong steering rack di daw kasi narerepair ang leak na oring hehe lintek.
