mga bossing patulong ulit. yung right brake drum ko is pina rephase kasi sabi nung mekaniko is kinain daw yung brake pads nya kaya parang hindi na pantay sa loob... nagpalit din kami ng brake pads syempre... so naayos naman kaso ang naging problem is nuong tumagal (after a month siguro) parang mag tumutunog na parang "tog..tog...tog" nung una at napansin ko, out of curiosity kaya hinawakan ko yung mags ko is umiinit siya, mas mainit kaysa sa left mags ko... so dinala ko ulit siya sa mekaniko, inadjust niya po yung preno sa right brakes ko sa likod, pero after some time nuong check ko ulit e umiinit po ulit, naka 3 adjust (mga 2-6 weeks ang mga interval) na yung mekaniko pero after some time e umiinit pa rin. Question ko mga bossing e:

    1. anu kaya posibleng sira niya or meron pa rin bang sira?...advise kasi sa akin ng mekaniko is bumili ng brake drum.
    2. magkano kaya ang brake drum (for toyota revo glx) at saan nakakabili besides sa casa?

sorry po kung mahabang basahin... thanks in advance! Merry xmas!

    Remember: "all brakes are self-adjusting"

Check the self-adjusting mechanism parang hindi na ata gumagana. Raise both rear wheels at the same time and engage the parking brake. Both wheels should not rotate when forced by the hands.

There are two types of self-adjusting mechanisms:
    1. Parking brake adjuster - by frequent usage of the parking brake automatically adjusts the brake clearance

    2. Reverse travel adjuster - run it in reverse while engaging the brakes to adjust the brake clearance.

    FYI

    TIA...

    Thanks again!

    Sir Erick,

i'm no expert on brakes systems ha. Through DIYs lang ako natuto with the help of manuals.

    TIA...

    1. "Hot" brake drums may be caused by poor quality shoes. Or maybe shoes that are "bonded".
    2. Check the brake system again for improper installation. Sometimes, the parking brake is sticking causing heat build-up.
    3. Refaced drums done by a qualified machine shop rarely cause a problem. They know the tolerance in which a drum can be machined. They would advise you if it can't be resurfaced anymore.
    4. Rear brakes that are not balanced doesn't cause vehicle pull, i'ts the front disc brake.
    5. Any reputable auto parts shop sells brake drums and components.
