September 24th, 2018 08:20 AM #3yes and no.
yes, because, as yatta above says, papasukin yan ng dumi na makakasira sa metal.
no, because "it probably will not happen overnight". my boots have remained leaking for weeks or months, and after replacing, the metal inside still performed for years, without incident.
what do i recommend?
have it fixed asap. you won't save on anything if you procrastinate. the expense of repair will not diminish, even if you take your time.

September 24th, 2018 08:28 AM #4i had a car with one side a broken cv boot. napasin lang namin when replacing the axle grease was more liquid and brownish white in color compared to the other side with the intact axle boot. this indicated water contamination. together with all previous reasons stated better have it replaced sooner rather than later.

Replace them asap and hope it's not too late.
Left alone, sand, dust, and crud will get in, stick to the lubrication and act like rubbing compound to the moving parts. With the CV unprotected, it will enter accelerated wear and will later exhibit itself as CV noises like clicks, grinding noises, and vibrations.

as above, if you want to go OEM-style, get a "spare tyre lock". but i use an ordinary cheap...
