I had a 2008 Civic 1.8S and I also found the suspension a bit on the stiff side (using stock A.Drives).

What is the model of your 2006 FD? S? V? The latter had a 15-in rims with a taller tire profile. In theory, the V would be less stiffer than the S, all else being equal.
