hi,
i am getting a humming sound when running at "exactly 40kph only." nothing more nothing less. it is also NOT dependent on engine rev and gear.
if its not wheel bearing, what could be it?

It you suspect its the tire, check for cupping also known as "Feather Wheel". If it is, two main causes: toe adjustment and weak shocks. Once the tire becomes cupped it wears like that and stays noisy. You can correct the root cause, but not the cupped on the tire.

cupped tires as in vulcanized?

January 25th, 2009 06:13 PM #5wheel bearing noise will be audible from any speed, and it will change pitch from low to high. it will be more of a grinding noise.
cupped or feathered tires is caused by wheel alignment problems in general.
Tire service centers with wheel alignment systems can help you on this.
