September 20th, 2006 07:54 PM #1greetings fellow tsikoteers! I have a simple question about spare tyre. Meron ba nabibili na spare rim lang? ang current wheel size ko is 14" but my spare is only 13". gusto ko bumili ng 14" na spare wheel para uniform ang size sa wheels ko. Meron kaya nito sa mga wheel/tyres shops? TIA!

yes, makakabili ka sa mga tire shops. pwede mo pang i-trade-in yung old 13" rim mo. punta ka lang sa blumentrit or dyan sa may cubao.

yes meron, dami all over the place.
pero if I were you, why bother? unless you plan to rotate the spare with your regular tires sayang din... as long as the spare does it's job in times of emergency it should be ok NOT to change it.

As long as the overall diameter of the spare is within +/- 10% of the overall diameter of the road tires, then the spare is suitable.

September 21st, 2006 09:57 AM #5Thanks for the tips. I guess i have to retain my 13" spare. But in case of emergency at ginamit ko ang spare na size 13" together with the other wheels na size 14", ok lang ba? Thanks ulit.

Yes. It's not the rim size that's important. Rather, the overall outer diameter. Stay to within +/- 10%.
Just like those with 17 or 18" rims, they will still usually have the stock spare. The overall diameter is pretty much even becauase as the rim size went up, the tire profile went down.

i agree with otep, i think your current spare is still ok. no need to change it.
yung sa akin nga, rim ko is 15", spare ko is 13", pero both have the same width.

Here is a tire calculator so see if the overall diameter (ground to top of tire) is close enough)

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html another useful site
Also make sure that the rubber/tire is brand new or at least recent lang yung modelo. Kung halatang luma na papalitan mo na (if you plan to get a used one, that is)
