    1. pwede ba yun repair lang muna or kailangan replace yung buong rack & pinion talaga?

and i am curious.. san nagpunta yung napakaraming ATF na binuhos mo?
i am not familiar with the lovelife.. is there a connection between the AT assembly and rack n pinion assembly of your car?

when my sentra sprung a PS leak, my mechanic fixed it up. he said not to use non-japanese replacement parts. he also said that local hoses do not last long esp. at the crimping.. he recommended original japanese hoses that cost an arm and a leg (8K!), but last much longer.
2 years after his job, my PS is still ok.
getting a surplus assembly is a gamble. sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

I had the same problem and same car model. Rack end ang diagnosis and the estimate was 6 thousand parts and labor. I asked around and was referred to Cruiser parts along Sucat Road in Paranaque. Talked to this mechanic Toto na mukhang me alam.Sabi nya pwede daw pyesa pyesa na lang instead of buying the whole repair kit para maka mura (good point). Baklas yung buong rack and pinion and replacement of some rubber bushings etc. Cost me P1,500 labor and P1,400. parts (brought my own p/s fluid). No more leaks.

Yung Cruiser parts is a Toyota parts store and looks very busy and prices are reasonable. Toto the mechanic has a shop nearby but usually dun na rin sa tapat ng Cruiser ginagawa. Madami sya customers kasi me Mitsubishi parts din na katabi. So more than half day din inabot but I don't mind, laki ng natipid ko.

If the surface of the shaft of your rack is still "mirror-finish" you can still try to replace the rubber seals. Replace the whole assembly if the shaft surface is not smooth and pitted...
