Just finished my first tankful of gas. I only got 6.4 km/liter. Purely city driving. This included getting stuck in EDSA traffic for 2.5 hours last week.

When I got the car, I filled it up with what they Shell used to call VPower (not sure what the new name is). This 2nd tank, I used Shell regular unleaded. I think the car is a bit more sluggish with the regular unleaded. The engine also vibrates more noticeably, specially when idling in traffic.

The recommended RON rating is 95, which are Caltex Gold (95), Shell Nitro+ Racing (97), Seaoil Extreme (97), and Blaze (don't know if 100 pa din). I opine it is also the quality of the gas, as a friend of mine vouches for Seaoil 93 when he filled up his test XV.

The Forester 2.0 weighs 1485 kg, the XV weighs 1430 kg. 50 kg won't make a huge difference in FC.

That said, I'm pretty sure that the XV still gets better FC than the Forester, because it's got CVT. In the case of the Altis 2.0, changing from the 4-AT to the CVT gives gains of over 1 km/L in the same city driving conditions.

    But 6 km/L vs 10 km/L? BS.
50kg only? wow. then you may be right thats its due to the cvt instead. 10km/L on an xv on strictly city driving? thats not stop and go.

then if its down to the cvt, that would mean fuel consumption would differ only on moving or highway speeds? not stop and go traffic.

Never put Regular unleaded in your car.

for a 2.0 engine, XV is economical. mas malakas pa nga uminom ng fuel yung 1.6 accent ng wife ko eh.

BUT, when on standstill, it drinks fuel like a dehydrated car!

    just my observation. :-D
....how about the engine noise?normal lang po ba compared to other cross over?

Probably to preempt the release of Ford EcoSport.

If they release the 1.6 model of the XV, the EcoSport will have its Subaru match

Hi XV owners, how would you rate the performance and maintenance requirements (and costs) of the XV?

haven't had maintenance yet since i barely got 300km odo so far its exceeding my expectation for a car-like ride that's durable as an suv. Accelerators kinda preppy or should i say need a light touch it will sprint if your foot is heavy... but im getting used to it.. love the cornering and ride you can feel it hugging the road.. =)

For the XV maintenance. i think we paid around P6~7k for the 10k maintenance.
What I like with Subaru dealership is that the interval of the maintenance is every 8months or every 10k km. unlike in Hyundai (5k km or 3 months + strict compliance).

Issue encountered so far: busted brake light (paid P250 +/-). Safety feature nya is magyeyellow lahat nung warning light paginiistart and ilolock nya yung kambyo (from P).
Una akala ko mali lang setting sa maintenance date/km. pero hindi naman.
2nd encounter- nagyellow pa rin and from P mejo ayaw na magkambyo papunta sa drive. pero i was still able to get home.
3rd encounter - nagyellow pa rin and from time to time, lumalabas yung warning while driving - this was the time na idecided to have it checked.
4th encounter - next day, yellow pa rin and mejo natagalan na ko ikambyo from P pa punta sa drive. --> going to Casa
5th encounter - *Casa - park ako and ask the service advisor, check-check and i was advised na pwede ko ischedule sa weekend instead baka sa setting lang or something. Pero hindi na nagkambyo nung paalis ako. kaya naiwan na rin doon that day.

May tinuro sila na maliit na bilog sa may kambyo - parang override. need lang ng maliit na pang sungkit to remove the cover.

I shared this kasi swerte na nasa casa na ako nung ayaw na magkambyo.. mahirap yun kung nasa mall or paalis na ng office nangyari (for me or wifey).

Nearing 20k maintenance or sa April 2014. Hopefully kayanin ng budget.. hehehe..
Other than that, wala na naman issue. Very satisfied XV owner.

*ryamvill, the maintenance cost isn't so big naman pala considering the 10,000 km interval between checkups. Just wondering if all those instances na umilaw ng yellow yung warning lights are all due to a busted brake light?

It's a good thing that Subaru has this feature to warn of a busted lamp. Was recently flagged down sa SLEX, my violation being "defective tail light" which is just a busted lamp which I didn't notice since hindi madalas nakikita. Buti nalang the officer just gave me a warning.
