Just wondering is it detrimental if I use Prestone Coolant refill to top up the coolant in my forester?
Anybody have an idea where to buy Subaru Super Coolant green fluid (as indicated in the manual) locally?

Don't like the pre-mixed supplied by MI? I remember its 7xx for a gallon.
personally, i would still go for the Subaru Coolant para walang maging problema if ever (i am not saying that Prestone is not that good), pero it won't give the dealer/casa any reason na masisi kung magkaproblema cooling system mo. mura lang naman yan and matagal ang change intervals nyan. sulit na din naman.

even toyotas coolant is priced the same. stick with subi coolant. just call them up.
is the level below the minimum already? I hope walang leak. ehhehe
just top up with distilled water if you're not sure with prestone coolant
Actually it used to be on F or full when the engine is cold. Now I noticed there is some decrease around 75%-80% level compared to 100%(new), which is normal evaporation.
personally, any branded of coolants are just OK. make sure the coolant specs stated in the owners manual should be the same specs as non subaru coolant. I'm sure "majority" of us here are using non casa fluids namely engine oil, ATF/MTF , brake fluds etc...
Personally, I just top off with distilled water and wait until the next PMS for MI to re-fill with Subaru coolant.
I topped up with prestone and haven't encountered any issues.
Also, you can google it.

Use ONLY Subaru Coolant ... there are long term effects due to the boxer engine design ... you won't notice the effects short term ... JohnM is right, better to just add distilled water ...
