    I got this from MI EDSA when I bought my FXT last year. Sharing with interested parties to give you an idea of the PMS price range for Subaru vehicles. This is page 1. It's not always exact; you can give or take a few hundred PHP's. Requesting mods to "sticky" this. Thanks.

    Not that bad considering an econocar with only one diff can still reach 10-15k at the major 40k PMS.

    Any ideas how much is the 40 thou Km / 24 month PMS of other SUVs like Fortuner, CR-V and Montero? Still deciding what SUV to get next year, maintenance costs is one of the major factors

    40K PMS of my CR-V costs 19K including brake pads. Done at Honda SPA.

    IMO Subaru is really not for everyone, para lang sa mga "afford" at "gusto" magkaroon ng Subaru. Para sa'kin okay lang yan PMS cost ng Subaru. Hindi parin yan kasing bigat ng Euro cars.

    Same with the forester, 5.4 liters ata ginagamit na oil kaya they'll charge you for 6 liters. Per liter kasi talaga bilihan.

    May I post mine all at Motor Image.
    * 1.6k kms = P3,878 <- nothing broken
    * 10k kms = P6,285 <- refaced front rotors for free, wiggling when braking.
    * 20k kms = P8,843 <- need to replaced battery, but didn't.
    * 30k kms = P32,158 <- (PMS + Cabin Filter = P11,552) + (Ball Joint Assembly = P4,606) + (4 Nexen Tires. Blown my Yokohamas = P16,000)
    * 40k kms = P36,020 <- PMS + all the fluids (atf, engine oil, gear oil, coolant) + Front Brake Kit + V-Belt (ac and alternator belt) + labor at P4k
    * 50k kms = P53,089 <- PMS + front wiper +power steering control valve *P26,468 + Stabilizer bushings + Steering Rack repair kit * P2,094 + Mud Guard Assembly * P 3,230 + LABOR alone is P10k ++ na.

    My unit 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.0R M/T.
    Fuel P6k x 12 months x 5 years = P360k
    Maintainance, parts replaced as above, 5 years = P140k

    Just to make sense of the cost. Cost really grows at 40k kms. 30k kms is tires, seems like the 1st generation Impreza tires are crappy. They blow easily with the slightest pothole.
    Also, MI did replace the ball joints, because of all the potholes I've driven over.

    From what I hear, most other cars replace belts at 70k - 80k kms. When you replace belts at the casa, your end cost is also around P35k++, as with my 2004 Lancer at Citimotors at 70k kms.
    Subaru replace at 40k. Not sure why, advisor saw cracks at the belts, hence for replacement. If I did not replace belts at 40k, my cost would be around P20k. Same with my Lancer at 40k kms.
    I also hear brake pads in MI is expensive (P7k++ for 2 front wheels) , can we buy any generic brake pads as a replacement? Bendix etc?

    *50k kms, power steering control valve had a leak, did not see that, advisor said, since power steering control valve hoses are all metal in the 1st version, vibration will knock them/or wear the rubber seals loose, hence they replaced the unit with a new one, with rubber hoses. Me thinks, this should be a recall at their end for all early versions of Impreza, if possible, just replace the rubber seals.

    For the steering rack, advisor was telling me, we are lucky, since for other brands, if they broke the steering rack, They need to buy the whole set. No repair kits.

    Hi April_Ryan,

    How long did it take you to reach 1,600 km? Will MI force you to bring it in after a month? Or can I wait to hit the 1.6k mark?

  12. #12
    ^I'm at a little less than 1,600 km actually, but i brought it in because it's a slow work day for me pag next year, busy sked na ulit.

    took me about 2.5 months. MI didn't force me to bring the car after a month - but when I had it checked after my tire mishap, they reminded me that I could now do the 1,600km check.

    for subsequent PMS, i'll probably follow the 7-8 months (instead of 6), rather than 10,000 km rule, because it will take me over a year to get to 10,000kms.

    Awesome breakdown by istan! Can someone also share the XV PMS and what they had done? I'm really thinking about it and based on istan's report i'm thinking the XV might not be astronomical to maintain as the premium Subaru brand implies. Thanks!

    When I attended an EB once, most of the people there said they use aftermarket brake pads. IIRC, these are cheaper and better. But you need to go to those shops which have experience with Subarus of course.

    I had my 1600 PMS today. Very smooth transaction! Left the car at 1PM and picked it up at 5PM.

    They washed and vacuumed it for free as well

    I had the rattles in the dash fixed. They appear to be gone now. Will do more testing this week.

    Thanks to Jerold my SA for the great service!

    Oh and they used Motul HTECH 0W20 and gave me the excess bottle. Now I only need to get 5 bottles next PMS.

    Did you specifically ask for the excess bottle or was it handed to you without you asking for it? Can you post cost as well? Thanks!

    Hi April_Ryan,

    I asked if they would use up all 6 bottles as I know the Forester only needs 5.2 to 5.4 L. That was over the phone with some other SA. But when I talked to Jerold, he was more than happy to say that the excess bottle will be placed inside the car when I pick it up. Do you remember who your SA was?

    Cost was the same as yours, P5,304. Check with your SA, I believe they use Motul for all current model Foresters instead of Castrol Edge. They only indicated Castrol Edge in the receipt but they actually use Motul. That's what Jerold said anyway.
