The Outback is well-loved in North America. It is a more grown-up version of the Forester and the additional space is something most Americans want in an all-weather family utility vehicle.
However, here in the Philippines, it is a pricey option for the usual CUV. It has good interior proportions of a 5-seater midsize CUV but most would opt for a 7-seater already at its price range. It is even a wonder than Subaru was able to sell a good number locally.
I am more excited about its sedan brother, the Legacy XT.![]()
I agree Master E, this will most likely appeal to the avid Subie fans and those that just want something different from the ordinary CUVs and PPVs already in the market.
Honestly, if I could afford this for long term I would prolly be asking the local dealership already.
There's just something about Subies I really like.
Sigh.
The new Legacy XT might be quicker as it is lighter than the Outback XT but with the same engine (2.4L turbo).

I'm on the cusp of getting the current gen Outback with a 250k discount. I'm holding off because I know the all-new outback will be coming out.
You guys have any idea (ballpark) when it's coming out? I got my eyes set on the XT.
Wilderness trim looks sweet.
I think it'll look really butch with some lower offset wheels and meatier rubber.
Its got that nice ipad headunit as well. And of course Turbo power is sweet.
Wait for the new one.

We decided to get an Outback last Oct’21 from one of the local dealership. Now I understand why US folks and Europe folks likes it.
Safety feature is great and the driving dynamics. Learning the features.

No turbo for latest PH release unfortunately.
Still great overall driving dynamics. The IPAD looking infotainment is a looker and stock speaker is good.
Im looking at the Subaru Outback Enthusiast fb in US, quite a good group to see and learn some insights.

Different driving dynamics . . happy with both . . grin.

Each car drives differently, much more against a certain category - sedan to crossover to trucks. Some car platforms inspire confidence where you have no problems pushing them to their limits.
Crossovers tend to drive in a way similarly to their sedan cousins (assuming similar platform) but you are just higher off the ground. With a Subaru crossover, you can be a bit more aggressive as the car feels flat off the ground and its AWD system tries to keep all 4 wheels always in contact to the ground. I have driven my Forester XT at high speeds (150kmh) in rainy highway conditions yet the car doesn’t complain at all.
For me, two of the best affordable driving cars are the Fiesta and Jazz. They are easy to trash around yet you have that sense of control. Accords (most generations) also drive very well - they feel close to the ground yet its girth feels smaller than its size when driven hard. I would say Accords even drive better than a regular Civic.
