the US-spec Subaru Forester looks a little different from the Asian version. It might be all-new there but this small ute shoulders on here Stateside since coming out on May 2002(that's 3 years ago...)but still kicks the Escape,Rav4,CR-V,Tribute,et al's butts not in sales but in its qualities. BTW, we get the 2.5 flat-4 good for 165hp, and the turbocharged version with 210 horses.

I have a 2005 Legacy GT and before that a 2003 WRX sedan.

April 6th, 2005 07:48 PM #18CarandDriver has voted the Subaru Forester 2.5 L Turbo as best compact SUV for 2003 and 2004. What SUV in any category can go 0-60 mph in 5.3 secs. Even the Porsche Cayenne Turbo can't touch this 210 Hp 235 ft-lb dynamo. The 2006 Turbo boasts 230 Hp. I hope this can beat the previous 0-60 mph record.

April 6th, 2005 07:51 PM #19I would like to add that even ConsumerReports chose it as best compact SUV for 2004 and 2005. ConsumerReports is a very objective authority since it BUYS the vehicles they test and subject them to reproducible torture tests. Go to www.consumerreports.org and see their most outstanding vehicles.
