What puzzles me though is despite the numerous customer complaints with their Subarus, old and new units alike (head gasket failures, fluid leaks, excessive oil consumption, transmission problems, etc.), there are even a lot of "hate" videos and sites against Subarus.

The above are the reasons why I haven't decided yet which vehicle to ger.

Still a lot of buyers choose to buy Subarus... that includes "repeat" customers who have even experienced these problems before... and sales in the US continue to grow (can't findbthe link though)...

I came across this report from USA Today dated February 24, 2019:
Consumer Reports best cars 219: Subaru, Toyota dominate top picks

What gives? They're actually doing well!

I have to admit that most of the complaints I've read so far are from dismayed customers from North America. Could this be just a regional problem, since their Subarus are built there?

I guess it just means there are more happy Subaru customers than those who have encountered issues.

I am a repeating customer because I really enjoyed my Forester SH even though the AC evaporator developed a leak after 4 years. No other issues encountered.

Just watched a review of the 2.0i-S by Top Gear Philippines though wala pang fuel consumption figures na binigay. Yung infotainment ng variant nya may naka display na Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

    Question regarding the sunroof...

    1. Nakakadagdag ba significantly ng heat pag sarado ang sunroof/moonroof? I notice na medyo manipis lang ang insulation between the interior and the actual glass kasi.

    2. Mahirap ba maintenance pag may sunroof ang car? I fear it might cause problems in the future such as leaks and rust.

Keep the cover closed when the sun is directly overhead. Even though it will not get hotter but the additional light seeing inside creates an sensation of extra warmth.

I have had cars with sunroof but not one of them had problems. Part of maintaining it is to make sure that the mechanism works properly.

    Thanks to both of you.

If plans push thru, I might get the 2.0i-S. But the sunroof is something I prefer not to have... can't think of a reason why I'd want one.

One option is to get the 2.0i-L with Eyesight but I want the 18-inch rims and the OEM aluminum pedals. You think it's easy to procure these pedals? Kahit saka na lang yung OEM 18-rims.

It's a 100k difference between the L and S Fozzie Eyesight models. For what its worth, I guess spending that amount for the extra features is worth it.

18" rims and brand new tires don't come cheap, you know.

but the sunroof.... I fear them. [emoji28]

Car will experience daily sunbathing in the office. Baka lumutong agad mga weather strip ng sunroof? Or is it of no issue?

Sunroof weatherstrips aren't totally watertight even when new. They're to keep dust, dirt & most of the water out. The assembly is guttered & spouted.

I just learned that Subaru's A/C is using a different compressor oil.

Cost cutting measure: the hood lost the hydraulic arm/struts which the previous gen (SH, SJ) had.

+ one less part to fail in the future

    - Subaru cutting cost

Just bought mine last week. Love the car, except ride is a bit bumpy on uneven roads - which is basically 80% of our roads esp EDSA. It can handle individual bumps or potholes, but make it go over a stretch of concrete unstable pavements, it makes driver and passenger sway /float / wobble semi wildly in their seats. Wondering if any of you has had the same experience?

Tire pressure is 34/33 front rear respectively

    Well that's sad...

I'm in the market for a new car and the Forester is at the top of the list (though I haven't finalized yet). I was able to test-drive it but not along EDSA (actually, that northbound stretch in front of Camp Aguinaldo, the lane nearest to the bus lane, approaching Bonny Serrano, is what irks me the most during my daily trip going home using my current car... I just realized that's where i should test-drive cars).

Anyway, could it be possible that you were comparing the Forester's ride with that of some other car?
