CATS is not the local distributor for Subaru.
Subaru will be handled by Motor Image Pilipinas,
which is a subsidiary of the Tan Chong conglomerate
based in Singapore. Tan Chong is the distributor
of Nissan in Singapore and distributes Subaru in
a number of South East Asian countries.

I'm glad Motor Image is going to handle Subaru vehicles. GM Autoworld did very sloppy maintenance and troubleshooting of our Subaru Forester 2001 automatic. It took then 4 visits few days apart to diagnose the leak from our power steering fluid. It turns out to be some corrosion of the steering rod which allowed the fluid to leak out in trickles.
After this was fixed, the performance was regained and quite good reliability thereafter. I thought of selling this for the new 2006 RAV4 but backed out a bit because of its excellent handling and ride even on slippery rutted roads and floods. It didn't stall even if the flood waters reached the level of the engine hood. I could overtake any car easily uphill due to its more than adequate torque at low to mid rpm with a quiet interior (can hardly hear the road noise and engine noise).
Whether to upgrade to the new Forester would depend on its reasonable pricing. It seems only the slight engine power was added compared to our 2001 Forester.

Looks like they still won't sell the regular non-turbo Imprezas here... just the 230PS 2.5 liter WRX turbo.

True, I think the Subaru Legacy was consistent in being sporty, even after the Impreza replaced it as Subaru's WRC car.

I wonder how they will price the 165hp Subaru Legacy 2.0
    2006 Legacy

    A not so rich man's Audi A4.

1st gen Legacy (1990 model shown)

    2.0 only???

Why can't they bring in the 3.0 R (in both sedan and station wagon form) as part of their initial lineup?

I mean, with competition from the Camry 3.0 V and the butt-ugly Thai Accord V6, Subaru shouldn't hesitate to bring the 3.0 R models within the year.

Large displacement cars don't sell that well here...
If they would add a model, it would most likely be the 2.5 liter Legacy.

yeah i think the 2.0 is stupid... dapat atleast the 2.5L and price it competitively or maybe a bit higher but not that far from the prices of the accords, camrys etc... 2.0 is too low!

    Hmm.....
Sadly though, the 2.0 R doesn't have the features that I want.

    Meaning:
    -no steering wheel-mounted audio controls
    -no cruise control
    -no 8-way power-adjustable seat
    -no optitron black-out instrument meters.
-SPORTSHIFT auto tranny but only 4-speed on 2.0 R (when the 3.0 R and 3.0 R spec-B get a SPORTSHIFT auto tranny that has 5 speeds)
-No ventilated disc brakes for the rear

And I'm eagerly anticipating a 3.0 liter engine with 24 valves and 245 hp.

And since we are not allowed to have this car in our local shores.....

it can be said that the Subaru Legacy will be the closest thing that we will get in terms of "excellence" in this vehicle segment.

And so, to make sure that the Subaru Legacy goes beyond "excellence", the 3.0 R variant (in both sedan & station wagon form) must be launched in RP.

    Two cents

A friend of mine here has a new STi. He's already bumping up hp to 500+ (it's up to 450hp right now +$25k). He also keeps playing that song: "Check Out My Subaru!" every night at work.

    Check Out My Subaru!

What's your forecast for Subaru car pricing dito? You think magiging just like other Japanese dealers or parang "premium" car with much higher pricing and lots of cool options?

Cuz I'm thinking, merong "race" image ang Subaru thanks to the WRX's reputation. But so does Mitsubishi although they don't really use that image well imho.

Balita ko they will start pre-selling by April or May and have a soft
    launch by June 2006.
