Motor Image Pilipinas, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the country, will soon unveil the fifth-generation Subaru Legacy and the Legacy Outback in the local market.

The Subaru Legacy is arriving just two weeks after it made its regional debut in Singapore. It boasts of improved space and a more comfortable driving experience while retaining the sporty nature that has made it popular over the past 20 years.

"The all new Subaru Legacy series has surpassed all expectations with its redesign and enhanced features. It has been highly anticipated and already won a couple of accolades. We are confident that the cars will add to an already strong following of the Legacy," said Hannah Tan, Motor Image Group's regional marketing manager.

Motor Image Pilipinas is bringing in the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT sedan and wagon variants equipped with four-cylinder DOHC engine. Both variants come with the Subaru-Intelligent Drive feature to suit various driving styles.

Doesn't the Legacy looks too much like the Mazda3?

It's a shame, really, because the six-speed is its Achilles heel, the weak link in an otherwise stout chain that includes a 265-horse turbo four, 18-inch alloys with 224/45 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires, and larger brakes. What about the STI's hand-built six-speed? Too expensive, Subaru says. Of note are the engine's larger intercooler, new exhaust, and relocation of the turbo below the engine, all of which contribute to less turbo lag and more power. Despite the industrial-feeling gearbox, the GT should hit 60 in around 5.5 seconds. Fuel economy, at 18/25, is respectable but premium gas is required."- MotorTrend.

My wife doesnt drive Manual sadly. Guess I gotta cross this out. DAMN !!!!!!!!! Im truly heartbroken.....
As in, no AT at all for the sedan? That can't be right. Although I appreciate the sportiness of an MT, my er... age has begun to prefer the more relaxed driving from an AT, esp in Manila's horrendous traffic. Been wanting to get rid of the S40 but couldn't decide which bigger car to change it with. The Camry is too staid and too common. Accord, puede na sana. When I saw the Legacy, I thought, "now there's a bigger, sportier exec sedan..."

    The local spec 265PS 2010 Legacy 2.5GT comes with a 5-speed A/T.
The local Motor Image website is not yet updated but you can check out the specs at Motioncars' car chart: http://www.motioncars.com/carchart/h...aru_legacy.htm

I'm not feeling the styling of the Legacy. I prefer the outgoing model's looks...

If styling and looks were the only consideration, I'd opt for the Mazda6. But looking at the specs of the new Subaru Legacy, I am reminded of what the Fox said to the Little Prince: "What is essential is invisible to the eye." He could very well be referring to the turbo 265PS engine, AWD, 5AT. OK na sa akin yun.
