Yep, congrats to Subaru and MotorImage!
Found out about this just yesterday, after I'd already reserved a Legacy GT sedan.

Release:
Since opening in Manila in 2006, Motor Image Philippines, exclusive distributor of Subaru, has been on a heady climb into the big leagues. And they celebrate their third year with their second P-COTY crown and a trio of class wins. Overall winner for the 2009 Philippine Car of the Year is the new Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Sedan, thanks to its enticing blend of luxury, power and comfort. Other class winners for Subaru include the Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Wagon, which won the 4WD Crossover class, and the Subaru Impreza WRX sedan, which beat out the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X for 4WD Sports sedan / coupe honors.
Mitsubishi wont be feeling bad about this loss, though, since the Lancer EX GLX won the compact class, avenging last years loss, and their smash sales hit, the genre-defining Montero, won the Midsize 2WD SUV class.
Honors for the 4WD class for SUVs, however, went to Ford, with a strong showing from the Everest 4x4, proof positive that absolute power is enough to make up for any shortcomings in refinement, especially when coupled to the best 4WD system in its class. Also a winner for Ford is the new Expedition, which won honors in the Luxury SUV class, thanks to improved interior luxury, a powerful and economical V8 (a paradox, given this cars reputation) and extra refinement.
Other notable winners include the smashing new Hyundai Genesis Coupe, the luxurious new Jaguar XF and the ultra-luxurious Lexus LS460. The Kia Soul and Suzuki Celerio ran uncontested in their classes, unfortunately, thus well never know how they would have compared to the competition. They still received high marks from the judges, nonetheless.
A complete list of class-winners follows. For cars that ran uncontested in their classes, a Merit of Participation badge was awarded, though these cars were still counted in the running towards overall Car of the Year honors.

Ah, beauty will always be subjective, so I don't see anything wrong with that pick either. :rose:

Been seeing the CotY award emblem emblazoned on various print adds for some of the respective winners recently. Volvo XC60, Gen Coupe, and of course, the Subaru Legacy GT.
And I saw a Jeep Commander in person the other day. It is rather handsome, in its own right. hehe
UK, Oz-wide JB74 fuel pump recall. Check Suzuki Ph for VINs affected. Sent from my SM-S901E...
