Baiskee,

My uncle will acquire a brand new Starex if we do not sell the MB100 to him. Sayang lang kasi if we sold it to him, he will get another car (a Corolla AE101 from another uncle) and still be within budget.

Guys,

This morning I went to MCR in Banawe to have my MB100 checked. I got this shop from the previous threads here and from recommendations of some tsikoteers.

I was able to meet Rudy the owner and he is very accomodating. Francis, the mechanic, drove test and checked my unit around and finally gave me the bad news. There is a lot of white smoke coming out of the oil and dipstick channels. There is also a lot of oil leaking around the valve cover and actually, from all over! He recommended that I should have it overhauled while it is still early and not wait for the other parts to give in or else I'll be spending a huge amount of money for repairs.

I am planning to have it fixed by next week. Mang Rudy gave me an estimate of roughly P39-45K for the repair. Any experiences with this shop or would you recommend any other shops?

Do they have a place to work on your van? Sa Banawe kasi, streetside lang. They do good work. Diyan din kami nagpapagawa. But do ask first if they have a safe place to leave your vehicle at.

It also wouldn't hurt to get second opinions from nearby MB specialist shops like RBL and Charon (both along Quezon Ave.).

Actually that was also my first concern. I asked them if it is safe to leave the van on their store front and they said it was totally safe. They had previous services and they never had a problem in terms of security. Their place have 24/7 security as claimed by Francis.

I was trying to locate RBL but was not able to find it. The whole place of Pantranco was gone but I'm not sure if I was looking at the right place. Would appreciate if you can give me their contact numbers if you have it.

MCR is the second shop that diagnosed the same problem. The first was Apic also in Banawe area. There is something I don't like about Apic that is why I looked around for another shop. Actually, you were the one who recommended MCR and RBL to me on my previous post (Help with MB100).

I guess I just have to ask Mang Rudy about the security issues. If he can guarantee me that then I might get their services for my repair.

Siguro alisin mo na lang lahat ng valuables muna while they work on your car. Yung MB100 dala ko dati sa Starbucks, bumili lang ako ng kape. Pagbalik ko nabuksan na sliding window. Malas lang niya kasi wala namang laman ang MB100 namin.
