hey, i like basketball, too. i even bought an orig nba 2k5 for my PS2. but to waste taxpayer's money in the hope of getting worldwide recognition in a game designed for big men is totally idiotic.

maybe pinoys have a passion for lost causes. that's why we're always lost.

Filipinos are masters of the local game, but we try to copy the nba style of play pero wala naman yung height and athleticism. hayun e di por nada.

We should try to patter our team play with our sea neighbors who obviously have more success with short-ball. Tapos manalangin tayo na may sumipot na homegrown 7 footer para may matinong centro tayo.

BBall politicks? Blame Puyat guys. He's the reason my the players way back then put the PBA together and started all this.

    Well said PK...

From my observation, our shooting abilities are slowly dropping. When would the likes of a new Allan Caidic emerge? We are also a bit lax on D.

Just observe S. Korea, they don't even have an inside game to speak off yet they are really deadly on the perimiter.

Yup. We need players in the mold of Caidic and Ricardo Brown (personal idol ko), heck kahit na Al Solis pwede na e. Players nowadays, puro showtime... saksak ng saksak. Sana kung mala-Samboy sila.

OT: Nung isang praktis game namin, nakilaro si Jerome Ejercito ba yun? Potek, ginawa akong asintahan sa tres.

Isa lang ang ibig sabihin niyan. Puro pa-istar ang lahat ng PBA players. Gusto lahat sila ang bida. Nawala na yung basic elements ng basketball which are shooting, ball-handling and team-work.

The younger players nowadays do not have the fundamentals set to heart like the players of old e.g. Mumar St., Loyzaga, Jaworski, Fernandez, Ocampo, and the other greats.

Yup masyadong westernized ang style dito, lahat gusto maging Michael Jordan or Allen Iverson puro one on one. Although we have good athletes, but none of them are in the caliber of their NBA counterparts. We need a pure point guard, in the mold of a Hector Calma. Yan ang kulang natin aside from a dominating bigman, which is ofcourse wishfull thinking.

We once had a dominating big man... Si Loyzaga.... and not the healthy ones (CHito and Joey), but their father. Caloy, i think. Pero believe it or not, in his heydey he even played as an import in Brazil (or some other south american country). Lufet no?

Just goes to show how far we've fallen basketball-wise

also we need to participate more in international competitions. we can learn a lot from international exposure. Nagiiba laro ng mga players natin when they're playing for their country. I remember our Asian games stint with all star teams coached by Jawo, Norman Black, Tim Cone, and Jong Uichico. Sarap panoorin kahit late siya televised.

college basketball is more exciting to watch than PBA. I find PBA games really boring to watch nowadays.

IMHO, the Philippines is trying to compete in a sport that requires height, heft, and speed. Like how can one compete against the likes of China and the USA, where they have a large population pool to choose from?

I'd rather the country concentrate on sports that are within reach, such as car racing, and soccer. Look at the Brazilians. They are not big, but they sure are fast. They excell in football so much that the bigger Europeans have a hard time going up against them.

im pretty sure you all know who won that game

honetsly, i used to be a basketball fan when i was in highschool and the first part of college. panahon nila jolas, codinera, patrimonio, solis, and the like.

ngayon di na, i don't know why. but yeah, i hate seeing my tax money spent on international competitions that we are not even competetive anymore. dapat training muna dito ng husto. but if it were up to me, just scrap the whole program and save the money for more important things. problema lang sa pinas, kahit i-scrap mo yung program, the money will be spent somewhere equally useless.

it just shows how much the sport has evolved at hindi na tayo naka cope with the pace. I don't want to put the blame on anybody but it's obvious that it is the BAPs fault at hindi nag develop ang RP basketball. If BAP just served its rightful purpose as the country's liason for FIBA baka mas naging maganda exposure ng basketball players natin overseas. At kung naging maganda din sana ang pamalakad nila, di suguro mahirap for the PBA magpahiram ang players/teams for international tourneys.

Like in the government, national sports associations, basketball's problem is too much politicking.
