I'm in good health so I don't ask for clearance from my doctor anymore. I take supplements to give me a boost in energy when I work out:
L Carnitine 2000 mg
NAC 600 mg
Sodium Ascorbate 500 mg
Vit D3 1000 iu
Here are the essential (daw) supplements that my health buff friend recommends:
Sodium Ascorbate
Vit D3
Magnesium Citrate
CoQ10 Ubiquinol
I am thinking of taking Magnesium Citrate but I'll skip CoQ10 for now as I find it too expensive.
500 to 1000 mg vitamin c
vitamin e
NAC
B complex
magnesium
vitamin d (di ako na-a-arawan)
fish oil (yeah nakaka prostate cancer daw)
resveratrol
and other stuff hehe
my mom said i'm gonna kill myself taking all that stuff
^Sa US they take so much supplements diba? Mom and Aunties ko natatakot ako sa dami ng iniimom, majority supplements naman pala.
yes they take a lot of supplements
funny my mom doesnt believe in supplements but she sends us kirkland, nature made, etc
tapos sasabihin niya papatayin ko daw sarili ko sa dami ng iniinom ko hehe
actually di nga exactly high quality mga supermarket supplements
they're called food grade supplements
mas mataas ang quality ng pharmaceutical grade
Whey protein
Creatine
And the occasional multi-vitamin and fish oil (lagi ko nakakalimutan)
I don't take anything except for gout. The docs at the VA couldn't nail down what food type causes it. My love for spicy food doesn't help. But, they know that's not what caused previous flare ups. I think the last one was while I was on a meatless diet.
I get the gout meds for the rest of my life (at taxpayers' expense). So, I just keep eating spicy foods (kimchi, Thai food, occasional gumbo, etc).
No vitamins either. A balanced meal should be enough although I'm heavy on fruits.
