Hindi naman siguro kasalanan ng Ateneo yun.

Other teams have to step up.

But Ateneo stepped up and rose to the challenge to get to where they are now.

This is where the system of Coach Tab excels: Chew Daves takes mantle as the next man up in Tab's system

Yung old school thinking ay gusto may star player palagi para manalo.

Glad that Ateneo is winning games and remaining strong. It sets the bar for others to attain and in the end, lahat panalo dito.

Wala naman kasalanan Ateneo or DLSU for that matter, they all want the best for their teams and won championship year after year. But we all know that HS star players choose to play for them because of the additional perks of course plus na rin it's a good university to begin with pero as a player na eventually professional basketball player talaga ang ending, siyempre you want to maximize yun ano makukuha mo while playing college ball.

It's like in the PBA. Bakit gusot maglaro lahat sa SMB group or Pangilinan group, because they will get more.

True though DLSU and UP ganun din ang support.

Malaking bagay yung coaching imho. Black and Tab really was a blessing to AdMU. Though with patronship of MVP. So kudos for them for getting a really good coach.

90s and early 2000s kulelat naman din kami palagi hehe. Nakabawi na lang talaga lately.

DLSU tingin ko ang malaki potential next year. Solid players eh. Tapos mawawala na si AK. Mas competitive na yan next year. Good news din yun.

Yun disparity talaga masyado malaki eh, yan buti napasok yan coaching, magkano sweldo ni baldwin sa Ateneo?. Isipin mo internationally known coach then pinili mag coach local college team?

Again same support DLSU at UP afaik.

There definitely is a disparity but the same can be said when UST was dominating in the early 90's, DLSU in the late 90's, and FEU in the aughts.

One reason for this is that our basketball players are not drafted professionally until they: graduate, complete 5 years of eligibility (super seniors), or are over 25 years old and 364 days (26 + 364 during the pandemic era).

A stellar recruitment batch can potentially give you a good core for at least 3-5 years, unlike in the US where a very talented freshman can declare eligibility for the NBA Draft.

It is a lot easier to build a dynasty in Philippine collegiate sports.

    __________

Btw, this is also the reason why our pro-laden Philippine national basketball teams since the 1990 Asian Games typically have an average age over 31.

It just takes too long for our basketball players to reach their prime because they are in their mid-20's by the time they turn pro (which should now be higher going forward because of the move to K-12 in the PH).

    And Ateneo started training early.

Half the team was part of Gilas, and the other half, even new recruits, became Gilas practice players.

But great game by the Maroons though. Kudos!

Now eyes on the finals and the championship. That is the penultimate prize.

13-1 is still a good number. A very good number.

UP tremendously improved a lot when Bo Perasol was replaced by Goldwyn Monteverde.

Kung magiging Battle of Katipunan Part 2 iyan, there is a chance that it could go the full route.

Very evident ang improvement. They have a good system...players literally know where to place themselve in the court... and they improved from Game 1 to game 14..
