Game stats for yesterday's katipunan showdown

the 3 point shooting percentage of the blue eagles is still mediocre at best.

The 9 blocks & 21 fouls ateneo tallied yesterday just goes to show how defensive minded coach tab's wards were.

    UP is a lost cause.
    Hero ball.

Kobe Paras' also hurts them cause di na bumabalik bola pag pinasa sa kanya.

As a Maroon, I couldnt be happier with Paras carrying the load for the team.

Levels below ng most of the teams ang offensive system ng UP. This boils down to the playmaking system the coaching staff taught them. Maganda lang defense natin (for the most part) and may individual talent.

The bigger de liano seems a good shooter. I think he ang rivero could improve on their outside shots.

    Thank you Quinito.
FYI, Quinito Henson used to be a player for DLSU back in the NCAA days, so he knows basketball. His notable teamate was Lim Eng Beng.

Last season pa kumakana ng tres si Javi GDL (bigger on the two).
Siya lang actually ang consistent sa labas pero sa plays ng UP, kokonti opportunities niya to shoot outside this season.

    Re: Foreign student athletes.

Hindi gagaling ang Pinoy if we just compete amongst ouselves. Dont expect PH to win in international tournaments if we cant even be better than foreign-student athletes.
Try to be better than them.

For me as long as legit student and not just an athlete, he/she should be allowed to play. Tall foreign players would actually help us specially our guards and wingmen to develop because they need to score against tall and athletic big men which Pinoys are not yet on the same level. And even if it's not a frontline player, the competition would really help as well since somehow they are really bigger than us.

It looks like dlsu and feu are coming into their own.

Ust and up have been watched, scouted, and studied so i don't think there will be no more surprises from those camps.

The fight for positioning in the middle of the pack is going to get more ballistic as the 2nd round blasts on.

As for ateneo, 3 point shooting is still their achilles heel at this point of the season. Losing jolo mendoza due to acads this year has been hell for their 3 point stat line. They've got to ante the accuracy in order to clinch that all important 1st spot, and the privilege of the twice to beat advantage that's packaged w/ it, come the final 4.

The blue eagles' main man, thirdy, has been hurting a bit since the beginning of the tournament that's why he's lost a tad of his fearsome explosiveness. It's a good thing navarro has stepped up his game and has been providing the versatility ravena used to deliver in spades.

Cansino and Rivero still can make them dangerous. Both of them are missing in the first round.

If coaches of both teams find a way to reintegrate them on their respective squad, it will make a big difference.

Realistically, ceiling for ust is 3rd place. While UP is finals contender.

true. but i think cansino is still reeling from the year long absence he had to go through last season brought about by his unfortunate acl tear. i'm guessing he's not yet 100% back, mentality wise.

as for rivero, he seems lost out there. medyo basa na iyong go to euro step niya. i think it's the spacing of their offensive sets that's giving him fits.

like what you said bro, it's their respective coaching staff's responsibility to find ways to prop up their wards' confidence and prepare themselves for the tight battles ahead. otherwise, it may spell an early exit for these 2 traditional rival teams.

i feel it would be dlsu and feu fighting for those final slots - along w/ ateneo. those 2 teams from manila are now tied at third place and are breathing heavily on the necks of the embattled uni-dimensional up fighting maroons.

dlsu's do anything baltazar is just so good nowadays that i'm guessing he can tow his team deep beyond the post season. pint sized melencio is also on a torrid tear and so is carracut. it looks like coach jermaine's puzzle pieces are falling into their rightful place.

that torres kid from feu, on the other hand, might just be able provide the additional firepower the tamaraws need to get over their eliminations hump. if comboy and tuffin maintain those silky shooting of theirs, then they might just make heads turn in a fiery whiplash.

    Agree.
Adamson also can make a run for it if they figure out what's wrong with them.
I see ateneo, up, lasalle, ust making it.
This is years final 4 race is exciting one.

But then, we all know who will be the champs. Hehehe

fan video shows up's bright akhuetie striking feu's alec stockton while in a rugged floor scrum.

there has been already a precedent so it's possible one or maybe even the both of them may get the suspension axe

San Beda & Ateneo may end up sweeping their elims. A dream match up will be to pit these 2 teams against each other.

I didn’t see the game, but Paras was only the third best scorer with Dandan calling the shots. Was it any different from Perasol?

The new look adamson lady falcons won the tough uaap pre-season collegiate Ph volleyball league yesterday. They beat the highly regarded uste growling tigers. The bronze medal was copped by the rebuilding lady eagles of ateneo.

It's going to be an exciting tournament next season. [emoji108]
