^ oo nga eh. pero ganyan talaga ang college ball, you lose players to graduation and to acads. in fact there are at least 2 players who didn't make the blue eagle squad due to grades. they could've been a big boost considering the shallow size and talent pool ateneo has now. but of course i believe the boys will fight and win another day

NU played good team ball; they went for the extra passes and a lot of players contribted, and they controlled the rebounds. Ateneo got lost and a lot of their shots, "niluluwa" pa. (bagong palit ba yung ring? Dami kasing "bank shots" si NU).

Talo talaga, mas magaling laro nang NU, halata naman sa game. Better luck next time.

^I don't like the gameplan which has the team doing more outside shots than inside incursions... probably an adjustment due to the lack of big men.

Ateneo cannot, and should not, rely only on one player. Kung salbahe lang ang kabilang coach, madali lang mag papasok ng sacrifice player para mangbalya. But hopefully, walang ganito among the UAAP coaches

If Ateneo keep this type of only one go to guy mindset, goodbye 6-peat

    Pero, OBF pa rin!

Unfortunately, may mga coaches (or team personnel in the case of a certain school) who will allow players to "destroy" another.

Even without Ravena, kaya pa rin to win games as long as they keep a team mindset (meaning: follow Norman Black's timeless plan).

And the apparent lack of slasher-type players. Was sort of hoping Buenafe would assert himself but I guess the NU bigs were way too strong for him to take on on offense.

Hopefully Buenafe starts going in more often. He has the heft and moves to assert himself, and he can take a foul. He also has the court vision to make a good kick-out pass and set up an open player (something he did well last year). He should just keep his outside shots to occasions that present itself to him.

Funny how people are starting to write Ateneo off already. First game pa lang. It's expected they're not the favorites this year but they can still contend for the crown if tehy can play team ball and show they need not rely on Ravena all the way.

Yep. I also hope the Blue Eagle bigs can improve on their rebounding. I mean, c'mon. A lot of those missed defensive boards (resulting in additional possessions for NU) were either because of poor positioning or lack of a little more hustle because the opposing player got to where the ball was first.

But Bo is still using the game plan of Black, ask anyone who can read plays same pa rin. Wala lang talaga fire kasi dependent on Ravena lahat.

i'm anticipating a break-out year for nico elorde and von pessumal. if not for the grisly hand injury the latter incurred in the fil-oil flying v tournament, i bet he would've gone ballistic in their season debut

    one big fight!

I agree here. Let Kiefer heal fully first before putting him on the court. Mahirap na if he gets a more serious injury. This also gives the team time allow other players to find their place under the sun.

Ateneo - FEU pa naman today. I'm sooo tempted to watch actually.
