dude workout days lang ba take nito or everyday dapat? parang gusto ko kasi try muna Megamass 4000 tutal Optimum nko by January..

pwede kaso hihina rin yun effect... ihalo mo sa milk yun megamass4000... gawin mo 1scoop after workout... tapos 1 scoop before matulog... wag mo itake yun 3scoops... masasayang yun protein kasi hanggang 30g of protein at a time lang kaya ng kidney... siyempre maslamang ang weight gainer kaysa sa whey protein dahil sa calories niya... megamass4000 is a weight gainer counterpart niya is real gains, masstech, n-large2... optimum whey counterpart niya is nitrotech, myoplex, juiced protein, champion whey...

ah.. magkaiba pala yung Megamass and Optimum.. primary concern ko kasi is weight gain, ok naman nagkakaform naman body ko through work-out, kulang lang talaga sa thickness or bulk (im 5'9, but only 145 lbs.).. So kung 2 scoops a day gagawin ko sa Megamass 10lbs, 15 days lang cya tatagal compared sa Optimum which will last longerrrrr.. hmmm.

Kennster: Re the workout, it has to match the goals that you're after, if youre bulking, working the same body part more than necessary will NOT increase mass or strength since you dont have time to allow the muscle to heal and grow, you'll just overtrain and plateau (hate to spell this word~!) a lot sooner.

If you work out intense enough, you probably would need to rest the major muscle 4-6 days before it can fully recover... Taking in good protein and creatine helps recovery.

By last squat session took me exactly 7 days to recover, it was quite intense, almost 100 reps up to 220lbs... I couldn't even walk up a flight of stairs or sit down in one motion for 3 days...

As for whey supplement replacement using food or regular grocery stuff, it's almost impossible to do so because of the ff:

    1) Enervon HP, and other "health drinks" out in the supermarket contains too much sugar and bad carbs, your insulin will spike and store fat really quickly. It also has a relatively high amount of fat/carb relative to each serving size compared to its protein content.

    2) Real food such as tuna (i have like 3 LARGE cans of these at home), soy, chicken, eggs, all have good protein BUT it takes 2-3 hrs to the food to fully digest and get utilized. You NEED a fast absorbing protein source pre-and post workout so that your muscles can absorb as much cell-rebuilding protein that it can during stress. Food cannot provide that that fast, if your muscles aren't "replenished' soon enough, your body will seek out energy to feed the muscles and it usually cannibilizes existing muscles and carb storage to do so. Not a good think when you're trying to gain mass.

Using milk as a catalyst for whey is also not an accepted method in bodybuilding due to lactose's REALLY SLOW digestive rate... The protein will go to waste before the lactose is digested.

As Ahrnold would put it... "Milk is fo baybeez..." hehe...

Tama ka jolog1, masarap nga ang Tuna Adobo etc., pero is this healthy compared to regular tuna like Starkist in States? Look at the ingredients for Tuna Adobo, is there any preservatives or even fat?

Tama ka noteworthy27, oily nga yung mga nabanggit na Tuna ni jolog1.

kennster, everyday ang supplement off or on workout days. What I do with Whey protein is take four servings on my training days and 3 servings on non-training days. Creatine naman si two 5grams training or not training.

Bottomline, your expenses would be the same even if you try to save money by consuming less. Because you will consume LONGER taking LESS.

    Myth #2:
You can only assimilate 30 grams of protein at one sitting.

    Fact #2:
The body has the ability to digest and assimilate much more than 30 grams of protein from a single meal.

Speaking of high intakes of protein, people have been perpetuating the myth that you can only assimilate about 30 grams of protein at a time, making protein meals any greater than a 6 oz. chicken breast a waste. This is anything but true. For example, the digestibility of meat (i.e. beef, poultry, pork and fish) is about 97% efficient. If you eat 25 grams of beef, you will absorb into the blood stream 97% of the protein in that piece of meat.

If, on the other hand, you eat a 10 oz steak containing about 60 grams of protein, you will again digest and absorb 97% of the protein. If you could only assimilate 30 grams of protein at a time, why would researchers be using in excess of 40 grams of protein to stimulate muscle growth?1
    Protein Myths

theveed, good write-up on milk and rest periods.

I 'might' switch to ON 100% Whey on January 20th after na medyo magkalaman na ko. Mahal ng AST VP2 Protein Isolate

Mayaman ka naman pre eh!!! hehehe

Di pa ako nakakabili ng whey, creatine at glutamine walang oras right now... kainis, tadtad ako sa tuna at itlog ngayon...

BTW, alam nyo ba yung Century Tuna chunks in water mas premium yung cut (as stated sa label) than the LARGE 1.8KG can?

Nainis ako kasi ayoko naman daming lata bibilin ko so I bought the large one. Yung malaking lata much less ang protein content, a little higher in fat compared to the small cans... Although laki ng mura... Haay...

    Myth #2:
You can only assimilate 30 grams of protein at one sitting.

Kaya nga gusto ko sana mataba ako dahil bawas gastos sa hindi pagkain at the same time lose weight.

van_wilder, wala pa akong final conclusion about AST.

Sa kanin ba or as a sandwich? Wala, curious lang ako. This weekend makabili nga ng tuna. Eto, mas mura kesa sa supplement. :hihihi:

Yung Albacore Tuna has 19grams of protein compared to regular tuna na 13grams.

Karding: I eat it as is, walang palaman or kanin hehe... Actually naaalatan ako minsan so I blanch it sa hot water muna then just eat it, di ako masyado makanin din kasi kaya ok lang kung puros ulam... Bland food isnt new to me hehe... I even eat instant oats na walang tubig din, as in dry sya, nguya lang ako then sip ng tubig... parang chewing gum hehehe..

Wala padin akong time magshop for supple right now hay... But I hope I can gain a pound or so this week...

tilapia is a very good source of protein daw...wag mo nga lang i fry.ihaw mo nalang siguro.

VW: Actually ako I HATE and I emphasize HATE fish since I was a kid, as in nasusuka ako kung kinakain ko sya unless fillet o ala fillet o fish ang dating, but since I started bulking, kahit sardinas kumakain ako hehe nagugustuhan ko nadin right now kahit papano...

Hmmm high protein na high calorie din... Beef definitely, especially round and sirloin cuts, mas mahal to pre kesa supplements hehe... eggs are the cheapest... If you're concerned about your body not being able to process the cholesterol, just use the whites...

Then again, kung ayaw mo chicken breast dahil bland, egg whites (only) are like eating slimy foam hehe... :P I eat around 10 egg whites a day dati nung highschool coz I cant afford egg or beef protein ng weider (di pa uso whey nun)

Soya milk is another good source, get the low sugar kind...

Most fish are good as well, but low in calories... Ang basic rule lang naman is 1gram of protein/pound bodyweight, so kung mameet mo yung protein count mo, pwede mong ihabol sa good carbs ang caloric intake mo... Oatmeals are packed with it same as brown rice...

Dairys are good as well. Understand that whey is derived from cheese so nandun din yun...

You're mainly paying for convenience and concentration for supplements, but lahat ng mga nasa supplements galing din sa real food...

Hirap lang kumain na kumain ng madami hehe, ako napapaburp ako ng tuloy tuloy since nagbu-bulk ako, every 2-3 hrs kain ako.. hehe yung 1.8KG na tuna halos mauubos ko na in 3 days hehe...

BTW, natry nyo na yung Optimum Nutrition CGT10?

    Optimum Nutrition CGT10 600gm

Optimum Nutrition's CGT 10 is an advanced formula that combines three of the most effective ingredients available: Creatine, Glutamine & Taurine. Each serving provides 5 grams of CreaPure(tm) brand Creatine Monohydrate, 3 grams of L-Glutamine and 2 grams of Taurine.

    Servings per container: 30

    Each serving contains: Calories 35 Total Carbohydrate 9 g Sugars 9 g Creatine Monohydrate 5 g L-Glutamine 3 g Taurine 2 g

Other Ingredients: Dextrose, Citric Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Acesulfame Potassium, Beta Carotene.

ON CGT with dextrose, ayos! Havent tried it yet, baka after january 20 try ko.

van_willder, daming protein and calories...burgers!!! woo hooooooo

BK double whopper with cheese is 1060 calories and 56grams protein.

Ang curious ako eh how much calories and protein ang typical filipino food like adobo and rice or pork chop and rice? Kse pork chop and two cups of rice ang dinner ko last nite. hehehe

ahhh finally, for the very first time in my life. I am now paying attention sa nutrition ko. Eto, approx vallue ng protein and calories ko in one day.

    Breakfast
    Whey: 24gram protein 105 cal
    Oatmeal: 3gram protein 150cal

    Snack
    Whey 24gram protein 105 cal

    Lunch
    Whey 24gram protein 105 cal
    Burger 44gram protein 1200 cal
    Shakes 14gram protein 521 cal
    Cake 3gram protein 301 cal

    Snack
    Whey 24gram protein 105 cal

    Dinner

    TBD

Approx DV for 1 day not counting my dinner:

    160gram protein
    2592 cal (+/- 200)

Approx savings for one week, $5.00.

Karding: Looking at your diet... Di ba mabigat sobra ang lunch mo in proportion with everything else? I'd probably skip the whey and cake to another meal instead of including it sa 1200 cal na whopper (shet nagugutom ata ako hehe)

Ayos yung protein and caloric total mo hehe... Nagsalba yung Whopper
