Baldosa has been suffering from chronic back injury.

Sana tuloy tuloy, for an WTA1000 open, malaking achievement na ito for her.

Sana Hindi maunahan Ng intimidation at eyeballs on her si Alex. The tennis world has been looking for a heroine w/ brown melatonin for quite some time now. I hope she doesn't succumb to pressure.

Also, iga swiatek has a reputation for being somewhat of a , for the lack of a better word, "ungentlewomanly". Medyo she can resort to underhanded tactics kaya she's not that well liked sa circuit. I hope eala will play through the polish's antics w/ composure and grace.

Oh, Wow...so eala is continuing w/ her giant killing ways.

Btw, in my previous post, I meant to say melanin instead of melatonin.

Alex isn't exactly poor, though. Her mom was CFO of Globe until retirement just last October.

In any case, I don't think what she's done in this tournament will be duplicated by a Southeast Asian for a long time: have 3 consecutive victories against 3 Grand Slam winners in a Masters tournament without losing a set.

She can’t afford to play passive, that wouldn't work vs JPeg, who’s a steady and solid counterpuncher. Alex needs to play the same way she did vs Iga - aggressive, inside the baseline and let loose with of those lefty forehands.

If Alex shows up with the same fearless energy, and grit, then she’s got a good chance of grinding out a win.

I was watching the Australian Open podcast last night and that’s exactly what the panelists said. Everyone on the top 200 are all skilled. But, not everyone has that champions’ absolute confidence.

Tennis at the top level is more of a game of mental fortitude.

Sabalenka played like a world no. 1 this morning. Her opponent played well but Sabalenka is on another level. On to the Finals against the winner of Eala/Pegula.

Well, the Williams sisters aren't exactly brownish in skin color especially to the hyper critical eyes of the world.

The last "morena" queen to come out of the tennis world is Emma radacanu. Unfortunately, after her us open success 2 or 3 years ago, she went into a deep funk tennis wise. The Good thing for her though is that she was able to cash in on her then new found meteroic fame by bagging several multi-million endorsement deals.

The UK born radacanu , w/ Her exotic Chilean - Chinese ethnic looks , proved to be a hit among the potentially cash rich global south and also w/ the non pale faced 1st world markets.

Probably True ....but I still think the best tennis player to come out of south east Asia is paradorn srichapan of Thailand. The dude was a perennial top tenner in the atp rankings in the mid to the late 2000s. He played against the likes of Nadal, Federer, and a then up and coming joker so you can just imagine how tough the competition was back then.

Paradorn set the bar so high in south east Asian tennis, so much so , that he's practically royalty and a living diety in Bangkok and the whole of Thailand.

Agreed, he is THE standard for SEA tennis. Well, up until Alex wins a major.

Alex Eala will be playing again in less than two weeks (7th April 2025) in the Bellinzona Ladies Open in Switzerland.

Tennis fans love what Alexandra Eala did straight after her loss to Jessica Pegula in Miami which they are calling 'amazing'

Is it too soon? I mean, she looked really banged up and bruised yesterday.

Surface is Clay. This will serve as her ‘warm up’ for Roland Garros the following month (25th May 2025) in Paris.

I think that's fair play. Every player in the circuit has got a niggling injury or two anyway so the playing field is almost level. And besides, that's what they work and live for.

Also re the clay court surface, eala grew up on the red courts of the Nadal academy so I'm pretty sure she isn't a stranger to the Roland garros stadium kind of grind out playing type of situation. Plus, she also spent a lot of time in the shell courts of Valle Verde country club as a kid , so slow AND grinding balls aren't new to her.
