also, information is trickling out that there are other players and support staff of players who were given a similar privilege. so novak isn't apparently alone.

well if you've got natural immunity then why the heck do you need to be vaccinated

Kasalanan naman iyan nung head ng Tennis Australia, even after being told by Border Control that they only allow vaxxed tourist in, he didn’t inform Djokovic & instead sought an excemption from the state of Victoria instead.

Sa akin, the ultimate responsibility's still with the person seeking admission. He wants to enter someone else's country, then follow their country's rules. I don't know if they still do, but months back, they were even locking their own citizens out (restricted yung pag uwi), how much more for a visitor?

Having a visa isn't a guarantee of entry. A visa only signifies that an embassy/consulate pre-screened the applicant seeking admission, but the ultimate call falls upon the discretion of the border control official at the point of entry.

Palagay ko, makibagay dapat sa pupuntahan na hindi nya lugar di ba? Hindi sila mag-adjust para sa biyahero. Eh mayabang/matigas siya eh.

Incidentally, Australia's borders are largely closed... but they now have 573k active cases. Don't blame the tourists/temp. visitors!

But Djokovic was misled to believe by TA that he will get an exemption & even Victoria granted him one which wasn’t honored by the Australian Gov’t.
If I were in Novak’s place, I wouldn’t ask the Australian gov’t anymore, given that assurance, right?

Well, mahirap nga yun, but the Commonwealth government's position prevails over that of Victoria's (state lang).
IMHO, he relied on assurances from the wrong people I guess.

Ewan ko ba policies nila dun, but bansa nila yun eh, karapatan nila to decide who to let in their "house" or not. We can (understandably) criticize their policies but that's that.

    Sabihin pa nila:

"Pake nyo? Eh ke poor ng Pilipinas! Kahit karamihan mga criminal ninuno namin that arrived with the First Fleet, pag naabot nyo itong naabot namin, saka nyo pintasan pamamalakad namin..."

    Masusupalpal lang tayo...

    My 2 cents lang naman.

Victoria gave Novak an exemption even though they’re not allowed to. Good thing Border Control in Victoria is independent of it. Australia has one of the strictest bio-sanitary measures in the world.

novak's visa is cancelled again and is now detained - and rightly so- as part of the process for his appeal to overturn the immigration ruling against him . he and his team misrepresented themselves in the immigration forms everyone is required to fill-up and those dubious actions have dire consequences. lusot na sana sa haphazard "medical exemption" pero nadali sa procedurals.

tama si world #4 stafanos tsitsipas by saying that the djoker practically made a fool of every tennis pro who took the vaccine, whether they wanted to be inoculated or not, just to play in the aussie open . sabi nga ni tsitsipas, being the world's best player at the moment doesn't mean the rules of the land don't apply to him. if his pleadings aren't overturned, he may be banned from applying for an aussie visa for 3 long years. eh he's virtually unstoppable in his favorite surface pa naman kaya atat na atat makapaglaro siya sa melbourne for what could be a record breaking 21st grand slam hardware.

but have we seen the last of novak in this year's oz tennis extravaganza? not if his reported AU$ 50,000/day legal team can help it.

Malabo yan, Aussie's are genereally angry about exemptions so the PM won't risk it. If unvaxxed and his team misdeclared his application to enter, deported talaga yan. Though next year probably pwede siya bigyan exemption since meron naman clause. But not this time imho.

And more importantly, election year ngayon sa australia kaya nakinig muna sa pulso ng mga constituents nya si pm scott morrison bago nag decide uli i-revoke iyong visa ni novak (through his immigration minister) . This djokovic saga has done enough damage to his leadership image kaya he had to double down and press the strict border controls Australia is known to have.

Iyon nga lang, he alienated himself from the large and boisterous serbian migrant community there. Pero minority naman din sila so i guess he can live w/ that.

As a fan of his skills, am disappointed that Novak won't be able to play. Sayang. Aussie officials could have handled it better, but IMHO in the end the rules should apply to all.
