I honestly didn't expect him to beat Rafa at the FO. And after the 2nd set of the final I thought maybe the stress and exertion from that SF could've taken its toll already. Went to bed and was surprised to see he pulled through in the last 3 sets.Grabe yung endurance and mental toughness. We probably won't see a trio of players like Rfed, Rafa and the Djoker again in our lifetime.
I was rooting for tsitsipas. Love his backhand. Never been a fan of djokovic. Pa-cute masyado for me.
But this is the girl i'm optimistic about & looking out for in the coming years. Hopefully, the saviour -to-be of Philippine tennis.

Bro, his time will come. He'll only get better with time if he keeps his head on straight. I bet he'll break through in the slams later this year or next. Consistency/mental toughness and endurance na lang ang kulang eh. And yes that backhand is lethal.
Still I'd like Djokovic to get to 21 slams. Can't discount the talent and dominance over 2 of the best to ever play. If he didn't hit that lineswoman in last year's US Open he'd probably have 20 now.
Re: Alex I hope she can carry her success over to the WTA. Mukhang mabait yung bata. Well deserved win at the girls doubles.

Men's tennis is boring to watch for the past decade or so.
Rafa. Djoks. Fed. REPEAT. [emoji23]
I"d rather watch the women.
Osaka, Keys, [emoji173]Asinimova [emoji173], Halep, Puskova.
no can discount his talent bro. it's his prima donna ways and anti-vax stance - not to mention his disdain for strict compliance of covid19 protocols - w/c makes him a douche a half that's a turn off for me.
but what i don't like most is his penchant in requesting for a medical time out whenever he feels his game is unravelling. novak's notoriety for calling for these health breaks in the most inopportune moments of the match seems to be a modus to break his opponent's momentum. now, is it cheating or plain gamesmanship? that's the million dollar question.
Father time is on the heels of the great RF. He is not as sharp as he used to be, he was mishitting shots that made him a legend, he wouldn’t bother chasing down balls & a split second slower than before. Before, he just had to deal with the top 5. Now, in addition, he has to deal with the youth.

Hus, kahit naman dati pa mas maganda panoorin yung women's bro. For.. reasons.. haha. But I get your point. Same 3 guys dominating for the longest time does make it stagnant kinda like Lewis's past dominance in F1. But that's the price to pay for witnessing greatness I guess.
Does he do those breaks regularly bro? Agree that's not very sporting of him. I cringe at some of his mannerisms specially those little celebratory gestures. One good thing about him though is like Rafa, he seems to be a gracious loser. And doesn't cry like RF and AM.![]()
Congrats to *DjokerNole for winning his 20th Grand Slam and getting level with Rafa and RF! Arguably the GOAT. Got me thinking how things would have been if Wimbledon wasn't cancelled last year and he didn't accidentally hit that line judge in last year's US Open.
Alex Eala rules singles event in Milan to complete double title romp
Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala added two more titles to her championship haul in a span of 24 hours as she clinched the girls' singles crown of the junior grade A tournament in Milan, Italy on Sunday, July 18.
Coming off a sterling championship run in the girls' doubles tilt with American partner Madison Sieg in the same event, Eala toppled Nikola Bartunkova of Czech Republic, 6-3, 6-3, in the girls' singles finals.
Eala seized a 3-0 lead in the second set before Bartunkova got back in the match by taking three of the next five games.
The 16-year-old Eala, though, held her ground and notched the ensuing game to complete the double title romp in Milan.
Congratulations, Alex!
top seed djokovic denied entry to australia despite medical exemption given by officials of Australian open tournament. he's been a critic of covid19 innoculation so everyone is assuming he hasn't been vaxxed yet.
the serb is currently in a gov't quarantine hotel facility while legally disputing the ruling of australia's border control
Novak Djokovic: Australia cancels top tennis player'''s visa - BBC News
i think novak's line of reasoning is that the freedom to choose to be vaccinated or not is supreme over anything else. it doesn't matter if his decision will affect other people detrimentally or not just as long as he's able to make a choice . being the top attraction of the tournament, i think he really feels his entitled to play no matter what.
don't know about that doc but i think he's in cahoots w/ the officials of the tournament because his presence is a sure money maker especially because he's just a trophy away from bagging the honor of having the most grand slam hardware in tennis history. you can just imagine the attention and coverage this event will generate all over the tennis world. ka-ching!
and doc ito nga ang linya niya eh, "The freedom of choice is essential for everyone." so i think he knows what he's doing and he knows it's a gamble that may backfire.
one of his rivals for the most number of grand slam wins react to the novak (dapat name daw niya no-vax) controversy.

Novak Djokovic in limbo as lawyers battle over Australia entry ban | Inquirer Sports
Its getting to be the gov’t of Serbia vs Australia but I don’t know how this can be resolved when Australia has the mandate of it’s citizens to protect them at all costs. Like the NY & Christmas reunion we had where we were required by the host to get a Rapid Antigen test prior. Hosts discretion, hosts rule. Even Rafa said that, unfortunate as it is, Novak knew of the rules but still persisted in his stance. Credit Australia for holding ground.

i may be mistaken because it's beginning to look like tennis australia is to blame - all for the big bucks.
but is novak an innocent bystander in all this, i doubt. he's a fairly intelligent person and i reckon he was betting that the australian gov't will somehow relent - w/ the help of tournament organizers - to his presence since it'll give the image of australia as having an aura of normalcy after the series of lockdowns they have been enduring.

hard to believe though that his basis for an exemption, w/c tennis australia apparently adheres to, is that he has a natural immunity to the covid 19 virus since he's had covid w/in the last 6 months (twice according to some reports).
also, information is trickling out that there are other players and support staff of players who were given a similar privilege. so novak isn't apparently alone.
