Yes, I used to get to class smelling like soap... covered up the B.O., though...

At our house in LPC, the bathroom in the master bedroom has a spa-shaped tub, but no shower. So, my mom used the pail and tabo method (plus a kettle of hot water).

The regular bathroom has a shower stall with regular faucets plus a shower head. I never saw any pail in there

There's a third bathroom next to the maid's quarters which is a little more austere (similar to my aunt's in Cavite). The toilet needed a pail of water for flushing and showering is done via the pail and tabo method. I actually liked this bathroom better because my mom was very particular about me leaving muddy tracks inside the house, especially since I was very active outdoors.

The (2) pails were big plastic paint buckets and our tabo was a big plastic scoop (almost as big as a small pail). I'd use at least 4 buckets of water plus I took a shower at least twice a day, 3x during weekends and school vacation

Here, my wife and mother-in-law are tried and true pail and tabo fans. Not me. Our tub in the master bedroom has nozzles that turn it into a spa. The whirlpools are a relief especially after a soccer game when my knees and thighs are aching. I soak in that for at least 30 minutes.

My daughter also prefers baths although I question her hygiene because her baths are awfully short. My wife timed her once and came up with 2 minutes.

I've seen other Pinoy houses and yes, many have a pail and tabo in the bathroom.

Hahaha... Pinoys in America are saving the world!

Now if only we could adapt the same system to cars. When Ford demonstrated the Focus's fuel economy, they had a bottle on the hood connected directly to the fuel rail on both the Focus and the C*v*c. If we could do that in daily driving, imagine how much fuel we could save...

"Uh oh... the bottle's half-empty! Have to drive slower..."

It depends. If the shower has a handle (unlike the fixed overhead type) then it would be a tie kasi the key is in the control of where the water goes.

Why don't you email this to Mythbusters? ;)

Uh... how do you say "tabo" in American English? It's not a pail or bucket...

Ang alam ko "dipper" ang tawag sa tabo. Like the big and small dipper (constellations) that resemble the shape of the tabo

Tabo or shower saves more water
